COVID-19 How are you occupying yourself during lockdown?

Playing my 3ds, still got games I haven't even got around to playing.

Bit of wii sports resort

Virtual pub quiz Thursday and Sat night.

Getting animals out to run everyday. Got a rat that needs to lose weight lol.

Bit of forum.

YouTube binge watching.

Eating

And sorting through a 1tb external hard drive of old photos 😱.

Some monopoly over WhatsApp with my
upstairs neighbours

SEga megadrive, playing streets of rage

Watching a few films, mainly Disney pixar. Best ones so far were toy story 4 and finding dory, also wreck it Ralph

Well, I always had a work-from-home job as a transcriptionist, so I am still working. My husband is also now working from home, luckily he has a job where he can dial in. Thankful that my kids are all teenagers and able to do their online work and make their own lunches and such without us having to hover over them. Besides that, just trying to keep our sanity by hanging out with the kids, playing video games, watching movies, ect. One of my kids and I decided to take the time to download a language app so she is working on learning Japanese and I'm working on learning Spanish. It really hasn't been that bad... I think we are all very aware that we can't get away from each other so we should do our best to get along. I mainly feel bad for my kids... my oldest graduates high school this year and is not getting to enjoy his final year/grad/etc. and my youngest is graduating grade 8 and probably won't get her grade 8 grad that she has been looking forward to, plus she had been signed up for art camp and won't get to do that either. On the other hand, my middle child has minimal patience for people and LOVES being able to stay home and do work online. LOL!

I am still working so its same old same Old for me. Lol. (except i can't go anywhere on my day's off.)

Holding bets with myself as to which neighbour gets the police called on them next, the occasional appointment, checking in with my parents (still in Northern Ireland) once or twice a week, and videogames. About standard for these days I think.

I am learning Hungarian (sorry if you've already read this, think I've mentioned it elsewhere) on a free thing called Duolingo.

It's an American thing which might explain why the things they teach you seem a bit odd... or not.

Anyway I can tell you things like

The new car flies over the big city
The young doctor plays music behind the hospital
I shout beside the table
I am starting to feel dizzy
The cook does not do the washing up
The actor has lunch and sneezes...

Hubby works from home and I'm a housewife so not much any changes for us apart from not being able to go out as much as we like. Anyway, hubby started playing some of his computer games again to stop moaning that we can't watch any sports on tv. As for me, I always read books anyway, and I was also watching musicals online. I was watching Miss Saigon yesterday. A few days ago I watched Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. I'm a big musicals fan but I can't watch it on theatres because hubby isn't a fan and we are quite far from London and other theatres in the city. I am trying to find the show Wicked online and haven't found one yet.

I’m learning Danish and have also had some weird sentences! 🤣 Try Memrise. It’s free as well and has native speakers. I use them both. I just need to look for some podcasts or something to improve my listening skills.

I’ve been knitting, supervising the kids with their work, and working as usual. So the only thing that’s changed is that the kids are home 24/7.

I have been looking after my 3 children, getting forum time and writing a diary. I keep forgetting to write though, and I havent been reading. I have started listening to Avril Lavigne, her song head above water is really a good song for getting through quarantine. I made some biscuits during baby's nap yesterday, that was fun. I have been going for a walk every week , I went on a longer one a few weeks ago and found a river. I dont understant zoom though, its complicated

Today I am embracing the true spirit of using lockdown leftover foods and I just made an amazing tomato chutney!
Ingredients: a punnet of saggy cherry tomatoes and 8 limp peapods, on the verge of being thrown away- half a bottle cheap malt vinegar, some chilli flakes... and after discovering we had no sugar... a third of a jar of leftover mince pie filling I found at the back of the baking cupboard, and a squirt of pancake syrup!
It really tastes a lot better than the random ingredients make it sound, better expensive shop bought preserves, I put it in a proper kilner jar and everything... not bad for food stuffs destined for the bin!

The animals, being in the garden, watching the hubby gaming, reading etc

Sounds familiar! :)) 🚼
How are you finding the reusable nappies?

We are part timing at the moment and she's in disposables overnight as she tends to sleep for 3-5 hours a time and the nappies just won't last that long while she is weeing and pooping so frequently. We also have the odd disposable day when mummy is feeling frazzled and can't be bothered faffing but otherwise I'm liking them. Ordered three new ones after trialling the ones I had and deciding which ones I like best. Think they will be the ones I get hubby on board with the most as well

Life goes on more or less as usual for us.
We both work from home so that’s easy.
I’m having to do a lot more by phone and Zoom but adapting to not going out to see people.
Going out for a walk most days - usually a couple of miles.
Reading more too.

I’ve done the Tesco Conga - exercise and shopping in one go!

i’m getting pet mice!
now i know what your thinking, but this is absolutely NOT an impulse buy, i’ve been researching for ages and i’m not getting them for a while, i’m so exited! (:
first i have to find a decent mousery near me though...

I'm jealous, I really miss having something sweet to munch on lol. Sounds like (almost) heaven!
Trust me, after 5 weeks of munching I am starting to get worried.
And I also meant to add I am doing lots of bee watching too - the weather is perfect and they are super active right now.

I've seen a few, larger bees than I saw last year but maybe it's because I'm not seeing them in the same places? It killed me not to get a closer look at a few on Friday but I was already having to get a taxi home from the GP surgery and I didn't want to give the poor driver any more ideas about my health than I had to lol.

As for sweet foods, I've had a bag of pear drops (or maybe kola kubes...some boiled sweet, anyway) since this started. That's it for something sweet. I realise that's probably a good thing but I'd still kill for some brioche or banana bread right now haha. :bal:
