Think we had probably worked that one out SkinnyLover! It's still not a very nice thought. Prefer my meat to be "free range" and that would include rabbit if I could bring myself to eat it.

Are they for people who eat them :o

that is just sick i mean sick >:( They are soo small and have no space to jump or anything :( Look behind too full of cages >:(

I have nothing against eating rabbits, but that is no way to raise rabbits for food. It's as bad as factory farming/battery cages.

Ive tried rabbit so cant really comment about eating them either :P

I guess they are the equivalent of the types of pens used for "battery farmed animals" i.e. chickens. I would assume that the animals aren't in them very long, they just use them whilst they fatten the buns up before they are slaughtered :'( I didn't think that rabbit was particular popular these days (might be wrong) so would be surprised if many people could find a use for these cages.

Exactly Nat, if I wanted to eat rabbit I would definitely prefer free range - at least you would hope it had had an enjoyable life.

No need for that, was there really

Quite! Thought we had all worked out that's what happened to the buns. Wasn't having a go, just thought you had stated the obvious ;D Sorry if you took my comment the wrong way.

I agree. Wouldn't eat rabbit myself but if people want to eat it then go ahead. Those cages are cruel though (just like factory farming etc. are before anyone says that :P)

There poor little feet on the wire, as a kid we ate loads of chicken pies and my baby rabbits kept going missing, it took me a while to catch on and then I became vegan for 15 years

REALLY :o Poor baby rabbits ::)

Yep really, we were fed my baby rabbits :'( I still do not eat chicken even though I am not vegan or vegi any more, I wont eat beef because If you cook a joint of it, well when I cook it it looks like a black mans knee. I do not eat steak as to me it smells of wee.
As a kid my brother used to tell me that Melton Mowbury pork pies was made from tortoise and that when we had sponge and lemon sauce at school he told me that it meant the school cook had a cold.
Think I have now worked out why I have so many issues with food!

I'm a meat eater but how they are kept before killing them isnt on in my opinion. that cage is just so cruel

ive never eaten rabbit but heard its tasty (I'm a rabbit owner)

This has tickled me esp pork pies made from tortoises ;D ;D ;D

oh no i'm not it's just that i don't like the idea of eating rabbit.
i'm not saying that its wrong or anything
:D

Its a sad fact they use these they are just like the battery hen things but I think they use these for hunting too I have seen Pheasants reared in very similar cages they are then let free for the hunting season I would imagine it was the same for rabbits.

My friends dad breeds pheasants for hunting he has 30,000!
I went round there once and they have lovely runs and sheds.
There was about 300 sheds and then each had a big run with lots of grass in. There sheds were heated and they were lovely!
The little chicks were cute too!
I dont agree with viel thats just cruel but i think battery hens are wrong but i still eat them 'cause i dont pay the food bill.
But supermarkets are really boosting the free range products now so thats good!

The way they are kept in these cages is nothing short of horrific. I feel the same about any animals who are kept like this. It's factory farming and is abhorrent. :'(

My hubby works on a farm and his cows live the life of Reilly. The are looked after so well, they have all they need and more besides. Bunnies should be kept in similar conditions.
