It's been almost 24 hours since me and Bubble lost our little Squeak.

I really struggled with sleeping as I just kept replaying the vet trip over and over again. It's been tough. It all feels like a dream, like it hasn't actually happened.

Walking into the pigs room too check on Bubble is terrifying now. I worry about how Bubble is going too be when I walk in there. He's my only pig now, so he doesn't have anyone too chat with, even across the room!

Bubble seems too be taking it pretty hard too. He's always been the more shy pig but Squeaks confidence really helped Bubble along. Now Squeak has gone he's gone back too being very shy and scared. Which of course is understandable. He's very quiet today, I haven't heard a wheek. I'm trying too spend as much time with Bubble as I can, so he isn't completely alone.

I've given him a treat stick too chew on for a little while. It's rare I let my boys have treat sticks, but I feel Bubble deserves one. He's eating, so that's good. (I'm not going too sit and let him eat all of that in one, haha)

In complete honesty I think Bubble is just in need of a friend. I've seen a total change in him. I'm going to look into finding one as soon as I can. I'm honestly not ready to find another piggy that isn't going too be Squeak, but I think Bubble is really going too benefit from one, and that's what I need too think about now. I need Bubble too be happy and I know Squeak would too. I think seeing Bubble happy will really help me too.

It's been a tough 24hours. Thankyou again for everyone's support.

I'm really sorry to hear all this. I had a similar story with my first two pigs who were like a double act. However, the more dominant one passed away first, and the more shy of the two became quite sad and withdrawn, sitting huddled up outside the house as if she wasn't allowed in without permission from her boss pig. Soon after we got her two new friends though and she really perked up :) she mothered them as they were quite young and she was a lot happier. Bubble would probably benefit from a fellow pig friend and like you say, it'd make you happier too.

it's so sad about squeak :( he was a lovely little piggy :luv:

i know the mixed emotions though. you almost feel disloyal to the one who has passed if you even think about adopting a new piggy. but at the same time you want the remaining piggy to be as happy as possible. then you've got the grief aswell. it's hard but you could start looking into a new friend for bubble now as it might take a little while to arrange etc. i'm sure squeak would want bubble to be as happy as possible.

massive hugs x

I think I'm going too have a look on the rescue locator and send out some emails or phone calls and hopefully try and arrange something for little Bubble.

Bubble and Squeak were an amazing little pair and got on greatly. Honestly, it will kill me too see Bubble with another piggie but I know it's for the best and Squeak would understand.

When I get Squeaks ashes back, they are definitely going next too the cage so they can be together again! Even though it's not how I would like them too be together :(

Thank you for letting us both know how you are doing. You are doing the right thing by finding Bubbles a friend. I do understand how hard it is though. You are so caring towards your little boy.

Oh Abbie, I didn't know Squeak has left you. Did you make a 'Rainbow bridge pets' topic? I'll look.
I'm so sorry for your loss, I was extremely shocked when I saw this topic. Poor Bubble.
Popcorn free little Squeak.
xx I'm here if you need to talk.

I hope you will be okay, Its hard to compare pets to other pets I found this when we got a new dog after one passed. You have to look at it in a different light, even though I miss my previous dog I have to think I had great memories of him and the new dog has a completely different but still great personality. Hopefully a new friend will help you both, best of luck x

Yeah, my little boy is gone :( It was very sudden. Extremely sudden. His body just shut down in a matter of hours without warning. I took him too the vets yesterday afternoon and she told me having him put too sleep would be the kindest thing too do :(

I posted a thread in Health and Illness before I went too the vets, that tells you more there. It's called "I need help with Squeak Urgently". If you would like too see that!

I haven't posted in the rainbow bridge section yet. I'm gunna give it a few days too sink in properly, then post on there!

I'm missing him so much :(

Poor baby, you did the best for him, do not feel guilty. x
Does the vet know why he went like that?

His body just shut down, organs I think.

Poor boy was literally a bag of bones. He was perfectly fine yesterday morning and when I went to see the pigs in the afternoon his body was just shutting down on him. He had lost almost all his weight in a couple of hours between me visiting them! He couldn't even stand!

It's awful. Me, and the pigs will be thinking of you at this terrible time. xx

Thankyou very much!

I didn't hear much of what the vet said tbf haha! I was too much of a blubbering mess! Luckily I had my mum who managed too tell me Squeak needed too leave and be in a better place! I got my final little cuddle with my boy, he used all the energy he had and snuggled his head into my arm, just like he was saying "thankyou" broke my heart!

But I know he's in a better place now! Popcorning away with all of the other piggies!
