How Can I Stop Neighbours Cats Terrorising Piggys

In the end I had to fill a cage base with water so she could have her own paddling pool. She didn't seem too impressed though, so think I will have to get her a proper one this year!

Try the primrose fence spikes which are on amazon. I can't work out how to copy the link, sorry. Only just seen them tonight but will be trying some myself as I'm too fed up with cats doing their business in my garden. They haven't affected the pigs yet but that's only because we've not been long without a dog in the garden.
 
A strategically placed hose pipe pointing at a pond (in line with the entrance that most cats used) at a distance of about 6ft, operated by a tap from the utility room. We've had the odd soggy moggy (and satisfying 'plop' sound) that have thought twice about coming in our garden doing their business and terrorising the piggies.

I must admit though, it took about a dozen attempts to get the one cat!
 
Not 100% sure.
I never wish any harm upon cats or any other animals, I just want the best for my piggies. Squirting moggies I thought would be perfect entertainment for them ;)
 
I have thought about blowing up a balloon and burying it under the soil they keep going on. The bang would scare my girls though and knowing my luck I'd miss all the action
 
I would have no problem with somebody using water to deter a cat, where I used to live a neighbour soaked my cat in anti vandal grease instead ... poor thing nearly died :-( another neighbour had an in tact tom ... jeez he used to stink the yard out ... super soaker seriously stopped him coming back!
 
Exactly what are the cats doing to upset the piggies? We have a few cats in the area and none of them terrorise my pigs although it may be that Priya sees off any cats who go near her guinea pigs. Priya is very protective of the guinea pigs. I am feeling rather upset though about people spraying cats as Priya recently came home with some bleached fur, and I am really concerned that someone has sprayed her with bleach. If I find out who has done it, I will report them to the police and RSPCA as they could've harmed her very badly.
 
I'm really lucky with my cat as she doesn't venture into anyone else's garden and we pigs.
She got into a scrap with a black and white Tom cat the other day. Brave little thing lol.
Personally I don't think I would like it if someone soaked my cat. Don't get me wrong I understand why.
Have a look in garden centres they have cat repellent stuff

My god thats awful! Poor Priya! I dont like them in the garden as we have a lot of wildlife and young birds particularly at the moment, but simple deterrents (like the citrus sticks and the odd foghorn) are more than enough. I cannot believe people go to those lengths. Hope she is OK, from personal experience I know she is a 'one in a million' cat.

We have a bengal type cat around here who terrorises all the other cats and fights with him, he is the one I use the foghorn on as he is frankly vicious to everyone. I have no time for him.
 
As the owner of two cats, I can appreciate how annoying they can be especially if you do not have your own cats. My cats sit on the run but my pigs are used to my own cats.

Citronella sticks are a good humane way of keepings cats away as they hate citrus. I would also have no problem at someone spraying my cats with water if they were being a nuisance as I admit, we used the water technique (using a spray bottle NOT a super soaker) to train them when they were kittens.

However, it is also important to point out that like Debbie, it saddens me that some people (nobody who has commented on this thread) think they have the right to harm / potentially harm someone else's pet.

When Harrison was younger, he once came home limping and cowering. The vet was pretty sure that he had been kicked in the stomach :( Thankfully he made a full recovery but the outcome could have been so much worse!

I was considering buying the FoxWatch Deterrant but unfortunately that also repels dogs, so would be rather unfair on my labrador ;)

I absolutely hate the sonic products. I warn everyone not to get them! My horrible neighbour had one and its such a horrible, teeth on edge noise. They say that humans cannot hear it but I certainly can. If I can hear it then my dog certainly can and its cruel. They give off a high pitched buzz that makes me wince every time I hear it. I was so glad when my neighbours left and took that torture device with them.

Please do not buy them and use them or even endorse them. They are horrible to everyone who hears it.
 
If you can stand the smell ask your local zoo for some lion or tiger poo. Dudley zoo used to sell it for your garden as super fertiliser and guaranteed to keep cats of your garden. Cats would smell it and think wtf how big is their cat and just run for it.

This was what I was thinking too. I have a dog and I don't want next doors cat being unable to sit in its.
