I've taken one of my guinea pigs to two vets. One said her birth date was 7/1/2020. The other said it was 9/1/2020. I was wondering how can I tell which one is more accurate. I got her beginning of September only from pet store so I figured the 7/1 is more accurate. She was in the 300-400 grams range then also. I know it's hard to tell. I have another one and they both estimated her the same time, one said 3/1/2019 and the other said 3/2/2019.

Going purely in the basis that you got her in the beginning of September then she isn’t going to have been born on 1 September and you got her a matter of days later.
Even if it was weeks, piggies in this country aren’t usually sold in shops until 6-8 weeks of age - So it would most likely be July.

But it is entirely impossible for us and even for a vet to know when they were born through looking at them. The weight doesn’t really mean anything in terms of birth date either as there is a huge range in birth weights which can carry through.
Most of us never know the exact age of our piggies particularly when they are rescues

I agree with Piggies&buns.

Our vet just guesstimates a date from whatever we know- so when I have said a piggie is approx a year- they just minus a year from the date I have registered the piggie with them.

Our boys are rescues & we have no idea of their birth dates, neither does the vet know, they just need a date on their records.

right I put 2020 but its 2021 actually shes 4. I know lifespan ranges but from what ive seen its usually 4-8. so I know she is getting older now so just keep taking care of her. other one is 6 and doing ok so far. 4 was when she started acting older.
