Thats how all my piggies name came about :))

This is a fun thread...in order of receiving the piggies...

Columbia and Magenta were named after the two characters in The Rocky Horror Show. RIP

Carmina was so named because she has darling little tufts of hair growing behind/above her ears that stick out and make her look vaguely dashing and romantic

Pumpkin because she looked as thick as a vegetable - then nicknamed Pumples RIP

Columbine because it's close to Carmina...

Carmeline for the same reason...

Carmilla ditto...

So I now have Carmina, Columbine, Carmeline and Carmilla.

Also known as Fat Fat, Scruffy, Ginger and Little Whiteness by everyone who gets mixed up! :(|)

Sarah x

I am a HUGE Marilyn Monroe fan....so...

Pola is Marilyn Monroe's character in "How to Marry a Millionaire"

and the one I am getting soon is probably going to be named Cheri, Ms Monroe's character in "Bus Stop"

I am an odd one, I know :))

Haha no Linds I name my pigs after things I like now.

I also have bunnies Tika named after another DragonLance character and Harvey who is named after my Grandads rabbit from the 80's (I was about two) I have 2 foster bunnies Cindy as she is a browny shade and Misty as she is white with grey and stunning!

I'm getting a neutered boar in a couple of weeks. He is currently called Nutty my 8 year old daughter wants to call him either Monty named after my old dog who died in 2000 or Mickey after Mickey from Doctor Who.

I like Noah after the character in Heroes. As I am a huge fan of Lowry I would like a Lowry pig but he needs to be long haired and posh! I also like Charles Dickens so would like a Dickens pig!

I love naming pigs, especially names that mean something. :)

Hey Lou are you sayin my Nutty aint posh :(|) :(|) :(|)

haha if he was longhaired he would be a posh pig! hehe he sounds like such a character! I really want to keep his name but its looking like Monty! rolleyes A nice tribute to a much loved and missed dog. :) x

Huxley - after Huxley Pig

Hamish - i liked it & another H name

Maddie - i liked it & it suited her

Toddie - Todde is old english for fox (his breed) & he lived "on his tod"

Haggis - Popped into my head as soon as i saw him

Tait - Means "cheerful" & he is!

Lyric - She chirrups non-stop along with her sister....

Lark - Same reason as above

I adopted mine and they came with the names Roxy and Ruby...but I've kinda half-renamed Ruby to Ronnie because they're sisters, like Roxy and Ronnie from eastenders :)

I named Rene (avatar - dec) after the character of 'allo 'allo cos i wanted a naff French name, being french myself.
Bertie was also French-sounding and incidentally the name of 2 of my g-grandfathers - oops...
Being fair, we went to a Scottish name for Finlay cos of Maxy's heritage.

Ok, here goes:-

Hannah - named after daughter Hannah, as they both have really dark eyes. Hannah was away in America working at summer camp when we got piggy Hannah, so she was sort of a replacement for daughter! LOL

Rory - Came with his name

Tufty - Has tufty sort of hair

Twinkle - Sweet, delicate little girl

Blossom - Came with name

Petal - Came with name

Claire - Came with name. Named after one of the production team working on Grange Hill, when she was used for a storyline. So Claire is my famous piggy!

Zach - Came with name

Berby - Named after Dimitar Berbatov (Ellie's choice - now she wants to change it as he no longer plays for Spurs)

Ralfie - Name chosen by the children I childmind

Star - By coming to live with us he saved Goggles who was pining so badly for his cage mate, Snap, who had gone to Rainbow Bridge. One of the children I mind told me not to be upset about Snap leaving me, as he was now a bright star in the sky, and would watch over me all the time. So Goggles new mate became Star!

My piggies were a family, mum, dad, son and daughter. At the time I already had a cat called Daisy, so I kind of followed a floral/herbal theme.

Dad - Basil
Son - Parsley
Mum - Marigold
Daugher - Lavender

I named Miss Pops Forrest after Forrest Gump because of her love of running
& recently Violet Elizabeth (Just William character) because she does thcweem n thcweem n thcweem at Debbie when she DEMANDS food! :(|)

I'm loving this thread its really interesting to see how everyone gets to there names,so here goes with my squeeks

Lady One - When I first got them I called them the ladies while thinking of a name and then it just stuck so I have the ladies one and two

Lady Two - as above

Ruby (lady three) - Originally lady three but it soon became obvious she was a rumbler so she quickly became ruby rumbler

Scruffy (lady four) - Orginally lady four but is an aby that is badly barbered by the others and OH started calling her scruffy and it suits her.

But they are still the ladies one to four to me!

Friar Tuck - Looks just like Friar tuck from the disney Robin Hood film

Little John - Keeping with the Robin Hood Theme - very docile piggie - is definatley the supporting piggie to Robin

Robin - Likes to think he is in charge but really Friar Tuck leads the way

Little John and Robin are Friar Tucks sons

Mine are Alfonso and Pedro....peruvian names for peruvian pigs (well Alf is a sheltie but guinea pigs did originate from Peru!).

First piggies

Trinny & Susannah little sisters that i wanted two names that went together nearly called them Kim and Aggie but thought Trinny and Susannah suited them better.

Honey B - came to me from Niki called Bayou, Niki said i could change her name so decided on a double name because as soon as i saw her i thought she looks a little Honey so she is called 'Honey Bayou' Honey B for short.

Murphy foster pig (RSPCA) that just had to stay - named after our goalkeeper at Scunthorpe Utd

Joe from Sokels also named after the goalkeeper (Joe Murphy)

Jimmy was called Jimmy when he came from Sokels plus at the time we had a player at Scunthorpe called Jim

Rabbits - SilverElla as she has a silvery white coat, Ella for short but OH calls her Bunny which has stuck sounds stupid but suits her neighbours must think we are bonkers shouting Bunny at a rabbit.

Binky was already called Binky when he came to me from Louise (Quavers) but would have been called Binky anyway as i had already decided if i got a boy rabbit he could be called Binky. He gets called Binky Boos as well as he is just so adorable you cant help going mushy over him.

YAY! I LOVE Binky!

In order of naming...

Pheobe - I decided that Pheobe would be my first daughter's name, but as soon as I saw her, I turned round to Andy and said "Look, that's Pheobe!" sounds daft, but it stuck as she just was my adorable bundle of golden fluff! then the person who had to get her for my (poor girl!), said "you're so skatty little girl!" to her, so she's my little Pheobe furball from friends!

Ruby - Andy named her on the red theme down to her eye colour!

Bethany - another name that I wanted if I ever had a daughter, she was so beautiful and it just suited her! Nearly called her Milly or Tilly, or Maisie, but Bethany just stuck!

Maggie-May - so named because she's my raggie Maggie! and the may? just because!

Sonny - only name he responded to, though he gets called Charlie, Nemo, Boiboi, monster or li'l man mostly!

My guinea pigs are all nature themed; pumpkin, lily, bramble, dandilion and buttercup.

Lily was named after Lily my cat who disapeared. She turned up after 8 weeks missing so now we have Lily the cat and Lily the guinea pig :{

My dad recently lost his boar Del Boy - he was originally thought to be a sow and called Delwinney after a brand of whiskey (his pigs are all drinks) but when we realised he was a boar it got changed to Del Boy and it really suited him.

Bootle- I was about 10 and just randomly came up with the name, I don't know how

Humbug- I wanted to get a guinea pig with "stripes" (again was about 10, didn't know anything about breeds) so I'd already chosen the name humbug when I got her. She was a tortie and wasn't stripey at all but the name stuck.

Billy and Bella- Both named with my friend Nathan, I can't remember where we got these names from

Bing- Named after the Bing Cherry

Tigger- Called this because I've never known a guinea pig to popcorn so much!

Matilda- After the movie; however we nicknamed her Pedro for some reason!

Ruby- After the "Max and Ruby" children's books

Millie- Named to match Ruby, as in Ruby and Millie makeup

Clive Mc Tuff Tuff- I just liked the name Clive, and he had lovely tufty fur!

Baxter- After the dog in Anchorman!

Cupcake- I just thought the name was really cute

Ruby- Named after the first Ruby who I had to give back to her original
owners as she was unable to get on with other guinea pigs

Muffin- Named by my boyfriend; she was a birthday present from him

Most of my names are so random!

Rusty because he was ginger, Tammy after a comic I used to read, winnie after winnie the pooh and dougal because he looked the dog off the magic roundabout rolleyes :))

Strolch ("rascal" or "tramp"), my very first own guinea pig when I was fifteen - a beautiful tricolour coronet who I used to sing songs to after he had lost his wife (my sister's).

Minx, who fully earned her name, a biter, fighter, explorer, mountaineer and born leader - shortly, larger than life and always pushing the envelope! Sadly missed. Red dutch aby X.

Mischief, mostly called Missy - her first companion, whose gender we couldn't decide properly for weeks. A food obsessed drama queen with the voice of an opera singer - a sure way to get me out of bed in the morning. Now probably completely absorbed nibbling on the rainbow! Harlequin aby.

Sugar and Honey, Minx' surprise babies, because they were so sweet, after the colour of their back end. One aby and one smooth. Now rehomed.

Currently with me

Dizzy - ex-Daisy who joined me when nearly 3 years old, who is definitely not a demure little lawn flower! Nickname: the princess, because she has a way of ordering everbody around. Tricolour aby.

Llewelyn ("LLewi-boy") - a rescue from Wales (lived together with rabbits and CHICKENS!), Dizzy's choice of partner. Because my husband is Welsh I wasn't allowed to change his name to "Dandy". Loves to run away with his food and still prefers to dive for cover when in doubt. Smooth dutch type.

We got our piggies back in February just after we had just been to EuroDisney, hence the names Disney and Paris, my kids just love there :(|):(|)
