How did you choose your name?

I may be a bit new here, but I know forums well enough to know this must have been asked before. But hopefully, my newbie card has a few punches left on it, and I can get away with asking it again. :D

So how did you pick your name out for your little friend?

I have twin five year olds and when we first got RJ, I asked them what to name him. They bandied it about for a bit, and finally came up with Raccoon. Feeling we could do a bit better, I suggested RJ, which was a raccoon character in the movie 'Over the Hedge.' At the time, this was their favorite movie, so they both jumped on it and the name stuck... :)
 
Acorah....I was waiting in a bus stop in the bus station on my way home from college reading my archaeology gods and goddesses books and the name just formed in my head. Not a clue why, especially as I believe I was either readoning on Minerva oe Artimis at the time...

Dandylion....well it's just such a happy word!
 
All of my piggies names are just names that suited them. Although Rosie's nickname is Batty (battenberg) because the markings on her back look like a slice of it!
 
Hiya! ;D

I got my first pig, an off-white abby, and decided to call him Cobweb as he was indeed sort of cobweb coloured and I wanted to give him a bit of a gothy name. I gave him several nicknames too; Hairy Harry, Munchy Joe and Pigpig.

When I got my baby boar I knew immediately he would inherit one of these nicknames, and Pigpig suited him down to the ground!
 
Sunshine my Aby/Smooth cross is a rusty colour almost like a burnt orange so Sunshine just seemed to suit him especially as he is a happy soul.
Twinkle my Abyruvian/Peruvian (In my Avatar) has a black face and a white and grey body which reminded me of a star twinkling!
Cuzzy my Sheltie is a blonde colour he was named by my two year old Caitlin who loves Custard, she can't say that so she says Cuzzy!

If I did have anymore then the next one would be Eccles after Christopher Eccleston, my favourite Time Lord! But that won't be happening for a good while yet! :)

LoL Gilbert starts with G and so does Guinea Pig his nickname is GILLYPIG sorts sounds the same so that's how it came about

Hi i called mine Spike as his hair is spiky and the other Smudge as he is black with a smudge of grey on his forehead
 
lois and morgan were named by my sister as they were her pigs before i bought them off her, lola, duke, dixie i just liked the sound of so thats what they got called lol

shakey - he was extremely tiny at birth 42g, and couldnt walk he shook his way around and ended up with the nickname shakey which stuck as nothing else seemed to suit.

Meeka- i like the singer Mika so i made it feminie with 2 ee's and called her meeka lol

We chose Snickers because of the layered colours on his fur are exactly what you would find if you snapped a snickers bar in half ;D ;D ;D ;D

Kids Idea ! ;D

Before i had a shaggy brown Guinea called Neelix (who recently passed away), named after the chef on the ship in star Trek Voyager. (It was because of all the brown tuffty hair)

I love giving comic names to my guineas. It's a talking point. I dont know how many times i've had to tell the naming story so far and i've only had Snickers a week or so.
 
GPQ is short for GuineaPigQueen, when I first met my friend she was so suprised I had 50 Guinea Pigs, she said you are like the Guinea Pig Queen and it kinda stuck.

I have no idea why ours are called Lucy and Rebecca! My 4 year old wanted to name them and after a bit of thought those are the names he chose 98) :)
 
Mine were originally going to be called trinny and susanna or kim and aggie lol! But when we looked at them they didnt suit names like that and we noticed the bigger 1 had a white stripe round her bum so she looked like a bumle bee, so we called her bumble then realised the littler 1 suited bee because she was small ( to me, the name bee sounds like a small name!) and has quite funny markings! Now i cant imagine them having different names!xx
