sorry but i wasnt sure where to ask this..
i got some special shampoo and some towels and went to bath them and.. well, thats as far as i got.. ive searched google and youtube and both not very reliable so thought id ask the pros..
any help appreciated thanks.. x

Greetings.
What exactly do you want to know?
Bathing guinea pigs can be quite "entertaining"
Beware, they can easily jump out of a sink and can escape from a bath, without too much difficulty.
I would give them their first bath, separately, in a bowl at ground level. Dry them with a towel and gentle heat from a hair drier. Some pigs like a bath, some tolerate it and the third group is best left to your imagination!
Best of luck.

thanks!
ive read through the sites, and think I'm prepared.. tomorrow is bath day! lol..
I'm quite excited to see how it goes, although I'm not so sure my boys will agree! haha but it needs to be done.
(when i googled i was getting loads of things for and against and not much help so i really appreciate it)
thanks again, tori x

Try putting an old tea towel in the base of the sink so they have something to put their feet on. It will prevent some of the blind panic when they feel the water!

Be prepared to get wet! nearly all the pigs I have had have tried to jump out of the bath or sink (depending upon where they are bathed!) I have actually had pigs who will jump out of the sink & cling on to me for dear life! I can't begin to tell you how wet I get when they do that....... :{:))

If they don't like being blow dried or you don't want to use a hair dryer, then dry them indoors & it is worth putting the heat up a little to help. Do not put them outside until the are 100% dry though.

Have fun! :(|):(|):(|)

Most of my piggies enjoy a bath but I've got one sheltie lady who is obsessed with trying to escape down the plug hole - extremely entertaining :)):))

I do mine in the bath with the shower head which moves about. They dont like the nosie it makes but its quicker to get them wet then then I can lather them with the water off, then get all the shampoo off with the shower again... I have it a bit cooler than I would shower myself - like for a baby.

thanks everyone, that just made me giggle. Looks like I'm going to have fun, even if my boys dont see it that way. Guess i will have to invest in a waterproof outfit! haha.
My OH is away on business so want to do it for the first time whilst he is away, in case it goes pearshaped :)p he gets enough of a giggle at me chasing bunnies and piggies when its time for them to go away for bedtime! lol

bathtime went REALLY well! and i even managed to get some really cute pics ^) I DID get soaked.. didnt realise they shake like a dog lol..
I used the bottom of an old small cage, lined it with a bathmat and bathed them on the sitting room floor in front of the fire.
Comanche hated the whole experience but seemed to love the cuddles after but Stevie loved it! think he would have stayed in, if i had let him! They looked sooo adorable wrapped in a towel, and I'm sure stevie was smiling when i had the hairdryer on inbreeding he was tilting his head, then nudging me when i stopped.
Then to my surprise they even cuddled up and had a snooze for a while together afterwards.
I'm rather proud of myself too! :)) i was relaxed which I think helped and it wasnt as bad as I expected.
Thanks for all the advice.. x>> gosh i just love those 2 piggies! x

I love it when they shake it is so cute they are like little puppies! I don't mind getting wet as the cute factor outweighs that (I'm not sure my boys would agree they hate the bath) :))

make sure you cover them in a towel before they shake all the water off and all over you!
i find a big bunch of parsley never goes amiss after the ordeal, mine go bonkers for that hehe =]

its great, I thoroughly enjoyed bathing my piggies, I put some piccies on the Photo Gallery ..... piggies liked it too I think :(|)

like daisy we use the shower, our two piggies hate bath time, so the shower makes it quicker for them.

we sit them in the bath, and they try and run up the sides of it!

once the waters off though they are happy, tehy love it when i rub the shampoo in, think they are neing propper spoilt, its just the water they dont like.

again once they are out of the bath they adore being snuggled up ina towel.

enjoy! nick and i do, even if the piggies dont lol!:)p
