hi, I'm after some help and advice... We brought 2 female guinea pigs 5 weeks ago and quickly realised they were both pregnant. Biscuit Gave birth to a gorgeous, and huge, baby overnight on friday and Speedy must be about to give birth any day now or I'm sure she will pop bless her.
I had talked my husband into letting me keep any girl babies but the baby we have is soooo cute that even if its a boy I cant bear the thought of him going to live with someone else who might not look after him as I would, so I need some help to convince my husband to let me keep all the babies
We currently have the piggies in a playpen that we converted into a pig safe pig pen and to be fair we dont have much more space for pig cages so I was wondering could I put c&c cages on top of each other? Also would that be unfair on the boy piggies when the female piggies come into season?
Any advice on how I could fit 2 lots of spacious cages into the same or similar space to what I'm using now would be very much appreciated

You can construct two or even three C&C cages on top of each other if necessary. Make sure that they open out in the front of easier cleaning. It also helps if you use a liner/fleece combination for that, as it can be a bit difficult to get into the back corners from my own experiences.

the challenge to plan and construct a new cage has been set :) Going to start planning it but I'll have to wait and see how many babies we end up with and what sex they are before I can start buying bits and building it as I'll need to know how many pigs it has to accomodate.
(I'm guessing Speedy will have 3 as shes's much bigger and more pear shaped than Biscuit was) :))

There is also the possibility to create a cage "wall" with the help of two bookcases pushed together for depth.

Alternatively, there are traditional two tier cages available. Or you can create a two tier cage yourself with the help of a second hand chest of drawers, with a traditional cage on top or just a second hand table.

Get creative and best of luck!

Thank you for the cage advice and for the link.
Given when Biscuit had her baby and the age she was when we got her she got pregnant at about 3 weeks old so I'll definitely be seperating and boys at that age so that we dont end up with any more piglets.
It has been such a nerve wracking experience wondering if they'd be ok and I've still got that worry with Speedy. Biscuit did amazingly well especially when you consider her age, shes's approx 13 weeks old, she only had 1 baby but it was a massive 127g when we weighed it this morning!
I have been talking to Suzy on here about the pregnancy and she has been brill, as has everyone Ive spoken to. I'm so glad I discovered this site :(|)
