I spotted a couple of little insects on my piggy and I'm sure it's not mites but it might be fleas. How should I check?
Thanks

You can’t see mites, they’re too small. Best to go to a vet for a diagnosis and any appropriate treatment.

Hi! Guinea pigs don't have species specific fleas; they can momentarily affect guinea pigs but cannot survive and will soon move out. If in any doubt, please see a vet for the correct treatment and don't home quack.

Here is a list of guinea pig specific skin parasites: What to check and look out for in new guinea pigs (vet checks, sexing, parasites&illness)

I’ve never heard of fleas on piggies. If they have hay mites you can sometimes see the husks the mites leave behind when they hatch out but it’s always best to get the vets to check them over to find out what they are. Please don’t buy any home treatments. They are seldom strong enough to kill the parasites and often the wrong treatment.
