20190926_153143.jpgBetty and Yeti have settled in really well and are doing great at being handled. They seem happy in their cage, doing lots of popcorns and zoomies, but I would love to give them more stimulation by starting floortime. The problem is they are in a huge room and I can just imagine them doing a runner and hiding under furniture and me spending hours trying to corner them again. How do you manage floortime?

Thanks!

I’m glad they are settling in well.
I have an indoor playpen made of c&c grids, in my case it is enough to make a 6x4 pen. They are all cable tied together except the last two grids, that way it all concertinas up for storage. When the pen is needed I can unfold it, put in the plastic connectors and the pen is good to go!

We have Bunny Business playpens for floor time, and for the main herd I extend the space with some cable tied C&C grids.
I put down a couple of plastic mats like you put under baby high chairs, newspaper on top of the mats, hidey houses round the edge, a big pile of hay and veggies in the middle :)
Here's my lot having floor time in their playpen:

Here's probably a clearer pic of the set-up:

I have a play pen that I can set up in the sitting room and they go in there. Just get something to cover the floor with.

Our cage is located in a hallway off our family room. In the evenings, I put baby gates to block both ends and put out some hideys and some vegetables. They can get in and out of the cage on their own, so I just leave them to it in the evenings, though they usually just eat and go home now that no one's a bouncy baby anymore!

I have a bunny business playpen too (after @PigglePuggle recommended it) but I did used to have them running around the lounge floor until the OH vetoed it cos they were pooping everywhere and he didn't like it. :)

We have a laminated hallway so I put down a fleece and hides and block off access to the living room and kitchen that both come off the hallway. They’re perfectly happy and safe in there

We have an open plan kitchen/living room. The pig cage is behind the sofa against the wall in the kitchen. I’m lucky that I can just put towels and hideys down next to their cage and around the dining table, they just stick to that area as it’s nice and secluded so they feel happy roaming around there and don’t wander off!
However when they hear me chopping up dinner veg at the other side of the kitchen, I tend to have a certain 2 piggies pitter pattering on the laminate around my feet :xd:

Looks like fun, I would come over and crawl about in that area 👍

Oops, I’m a bit late to this party, but I have a foldout children’s playpen. It’s got a waterproof bottom (although I still put a towel in) and I can just fold it back up at the end of the day and pop it behind the sofa. Takes thirty seconds to set up, and keeps all the mess contained 👍🏻

Now that we live in a house with wood floors I’ve used spare grids to make a playpen.
The first time was not a success- there was a mass breakout!
Today the grids were much more firmly secured but the piggies were not impressed with being confined in such a tiny space !
