How Do You Know If Your Cavy Has Mites?

Hi and welcome

Mange mites are usually characterised by an unwillingness to be touched/petted on any bit of painful skin (especially on the back), increased vigorous scratching and typically a v-shaped hair loss starting in the middle of the back, but not always.
It is important to make sure that you are not dealing with another issue like fungal first, as that can look very similar in the early stage, much more than textbook pictures would suggest, but needs different treatment.

Please do not home treat on spec with low dosed broad spectrum shop products that will not cure an acute outbreak. Ideally you see a vet for a proper diagnosis.
