Sat in my hall (getting in the way, but that's a different issue!) I have 4, 2kg boxes of hay from dustfreehay. Up to now I've been using bags and battling to yank what I need out of the top, but that's messy and annoying and I'd like a better solution.

So if your hay comes compressed, how do you store it once you've opened it? I need to open a box today so I'm hoping I'll be able to find a solution locally, but I'd battle on for a few more days to get something that works really well if its only available on line.

I just keep it in the box and pull it out, keeping the spare boxes upstairs

I know what you mean I took delivery of four boxes of Dust Free Hay and it does get messy getting it out of the box for feeding. But the soft meadow hay is really popular with the guinea pigs. I haven't tried the one box I got of the stalky hay yet so I hope they like it as much.

I have one of those pop up laundry bins, which I fill up from my large 9kg bag of hay each time it runs low, and then the mess is just made once every so often rather than every hay refill, I find it works great and as my piggies are in my bedroom the pop up basket looks a lot nicer too! I got mine from Primark 😊

My husband was very keen to have something with a lid as he gets hay fever so anything we can do to reduce dust the better.

I didn't get anything. Poorly kids have put paid to a lot of plans. But I opened the first box of soft meadow hay and I have 2 very VERY happy piggies! We got 3 of soft meadow and 1 of english timothy. I can't get over how green it is when everything I've found locally has been very golden - not that the girls have complained, but they're certainly showing their approval of this one :drool::drool:

Morrison's have a big black box on wheels with lid for £18. l have two ,one for sacks of pellets ,it takes 3 x 20kg. and one to keep hay in ,in the hutch.
