I've found somewhere locally where we can buy hay in bulk. I just wondered what people store it in? Do you just keep it loose in a shed, or do you have large bags / boxes to put it in? Seems like it will get really messy if it's loose, but not sure what the best option will be!

Sorry if that's been asked before - I did try and look for it but nothing came up!

Thanks!

Very good question.... Some people use storage bins others Wheelie Bins, Garden storage boxes. Need to keep it dry and dark ideally

Found some threads for you Storage Of Hay

I don't buy in bulk .. I just get mind from b&m but I store it in one of those horse wash bags that I also use to wash my fleece in - not the same bag obvs! I have 1 for hay only and 3 for washing !

I buy big bales, but keep the large bale in my parents shed and take some out every now and then, and keep inside in a pop up fabric laundry bin.

i put my farm bales in a duvet cover, old one ,double !

All great ideas! never thought of those

I have always kept mine in strong black sacks in the back of my garage. I have done this for just over a year with my current piggies and over 5 years with my rainbow piggies. I get farm bales and divide the bales up in the barn at the farm as it saves a lot of mess at home.

Thanks everyone! Some great ideas to look into, and lots I hadn't thought of too!

I store mine in a cupboard in the kitchen because I found that works better than storing it in the light is that the grades hay
