How essential are pellets anyway?

Mine don’t notice when they aren’t given their pellets, they have their veg (half in morning, half in evening) and then go straight to their hay. They are having pellets so infrequently now that it’s getting to the point where they are more surprised when they do get a few pellets each!
Do you give them on set days or more randomly? I’m hoping they will eventually get used to not expecting them. Though that may be a while since they still get them 6/7 days.

It’s more when I remember, it’s usually around 3 or 4 times a week at the moment, but even then its only about four or five pellets each (they get the Haybox cold pressed pellets). It’ll probably be even less once they are on the lawn daily. They get some Piggie Parcels forage every day though (scatter fed in amongst big piles of hay).

The pellet debate . . Lol. .
So many diff ways people use them. . What we all should use are quality ones . . Not £2.99 for half ton sweet crap. .
Guides are there to help and whateva works for you and piggies.
Mine have fresh every 2/3 days. . both sets of girls. . sometimes they eat lots then not so many and sometimes I throwing away all.
They have a choice and up to them. . . The dishes are small and it works out ok. .
I've seen Florence eat a biccy then wobble off for hay . . Fresh veg wins and I hide some leaves . . Its a game. Lol.
