Hello so i got my guinea pigs when they were 5 weeks old . They are now about 8 weeks, and seem to have doubled in size. they are extremely adorable and super chunky.. I feel like do to my recent research i have been feeding them the correct amount of veggies and pellets. but i do give them an unlimited amount of hay. I was just wondering how fast guinea pigs grow and at what age they reach there max weight . ( by the way i love how chunky they are this is just a question of curiosity.)

They have spurts to be honest, you'll notice lots of difference at the age yours are! Unlimited hay is great, that is the way it should be :)

Babies grow very quickly. Piggies reach their adult size at around 12-15 months of age. They are generally at their heaviest in the prime of their lives at 2-3 years old.

Piggie babies like most animals grow very quickly in the first few months, Kind of like Puppies and Kittens suddenly grow into their ears and feet :)
Enjoy this time, they're so curious and excitable at this age, And stay that way! :D

thank you for your reply . i just read the thread on the importance of weighing. it was very helpful. i think my piggies are adorable i was just curious on their growth rate. when i was a little girl i had guinea pigs and they were really large. when i got my three i have now they were so little ,i just thought maybe they weren't going to be on the larger side but watching them grow so fast its adorable. ( the guinea pigs i had when i was little must have been full grown ) :)

My kids and i are having the best time watching them grow. I had no idea getting them would bring my kids so much joy. I am sure happy we got them.

At the age they are, they will grow quickly. They will slow down as they age and reach their full size around a year.
