Hi there,

I was wondering - how heavy should the average guinea pig be? I haven't weighed my two, but would be interested to know. I just want to make sure they're the correct weight. I'll have to buy some scales to check.

Thanks :)

My girls got weighed at the vets a week ago - they were 1150g and 1450g if that helps! xx

There's no real ideal weight. Adult guinea pigs could be anywhere between 800-1800g and still be healthy. It just depends on the pig.
It is a really good idea to start weighing your pigs regularly, every week ideally. Pigs weight will fluctuate a little but a sudden or consistent weight loss may suggest an underlying health issue that requires attention.

This post is useful. http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=38805

My sow was 1.3 kg and the 2 boars have been around 1.6 kg. ;)

It depends upon the height of your pig.
If your pig is quite healthy than it would be 192lbs.
Thanks for this good thread.
