how long after mowing the grass

It is just the grass cuttings that are the problem, never heard that the grass itself was a problem, tell me otherwise if I am wrong.

I don't use a mower - my piggies do a fantastic job but I just cut down the long bits with hand held clippers :))

The grass will be fine - only if you have left the clippings it could cause a problem. Just rake them up and dispose of them, if that's the case, and let the piggies at the new grass drool

we had some poisonous plants growing so had to dig them up and mow completely to make sure all of it was gone. :...

it looks quite dead now so i doubt they could get much to eat! rolleyes might give it a few days and let them out and by then there should be some new growth. :)

What poisonous plants? If it all looks dead then I wouldn't let the piggies on it :^- Any weeds will grow faster than the grass, especially at this time of year, so the poisonous ones? could come back.

When my grass gets really tired, mine are relegated to the indoor pens and the grass left to recover, but I do cut grass for them from other safe areas to put in the pens.

Talking about lawns, I was told that moss is poisonous to piggies, can anyone confirm this? :)

They probably won't eat it, but try to rake the moss out if you can to allow the grass to grow. Most "well fed" piggies won't eat anything poisonous :) but moss is not good for them.

Same as white clover - I was told was not good for piggies. They actually don't touch it (clever piggies!) - it so it spreads even more and overtakes the grass rolleyes - and that is caused by the high nitrogen levels in their poopies so a never ending circle unless you poo pick regularly :))

Sorry, but I'm fanatical about my piggies grass :red

it was ragwort :... and buttercups aswell. but we dug them out and have fenced off that area so they wouldn't be on that part anyway.

the grass is mainly bleached to hay because the sun is on it all day.. but there is new green grass starting to grow through now aswell. :)

I would rake the dry grass off, water well and leave for a few days. Although buttercups are poisonous in their green state, they are, supposedly, safe in their dried state, but my piggies leave any that are in the hay I buy.

Again, well fed piggies generally won't touch anything poisonous.

You must have a great area for them :) ragwort doesn't normally grow in lawns in built up areas ;)

one step ahead - i brushed off any dried grass! :) there was some new grass coming through so we let them out but only put a small part of the run on the grass for now and the rest on paving. they had a great time x)

i can water the grass at night if i use a bucket of water! the hose isn't working! it wouldn't take long though as there isn't alot of grass really. thanks for the tip :)

i just removed everything that was growing as i'm over cautious! :red there's two massive holes in the grass now! :))

we live in a new build estate but i suppose it isn't a really built up area, there some fields around it. i don't know why we got ragwort! probably because i have pets! rolleyes i'm going to fill in the holes with soil and put paving slabs over until next year when it's hopefully becoming a patio area. :)
