Sadly we lost our little Fanta (only 10 months old) last month. After much consideration we decided to have Pepsi (10 months old) castrated on Tuesday, he is doing really well and stitches come out next Friday.
Can anyone tell me how long do we need to leave him before he can join our 3 girls. The Vets say 8 weeks which seems a very long time for him to stay alone, I have called the RSPCA and they say 10 days should be ok.

Most people here give it a full 2 weeks and havent had any problems :) I cant speak from personal experience and others will be along soon I am sure :) Glad he is doing well but sorry you lost Fanta :(

3 weeks is the norm! my Boris waited 5weeks till I found that 3weeks is ok on the forum. O0

Check out my Avatar................I got Tom (RIP) and had him castrated straight away so he could be paired up with Daisy.

I waited probably between 2 and 3 weeks - hey presto Daisy had a litter of 3. Personally I would wait now for no less than 3 weeks and 4 weeks if you can.

Helen.

4-6 weeks is adviseable. Anything less than that and I think you'd be running a pretty high risk of some piglets!

My vet said Oh its ok to put him straight in with the girls,I was a bit doubtful but not having had a piggie "nipped" before I took the vets advice-result 2pregnant piggies!
So this time I am waiting a full 8 weeks.

Oh dear! that vet doesnt sound very piggie savvy!
Our vet said 6 weeks, but the rescue i got our neutered boys from said 4 weeks. We went with 5 wks and had no minis. There seems to be alot of differing opinion on this topic. ?
