How long can hay be stored in airthight bag

I wonder how long before hay starts to spoil in an airtight plastic bag? My package delivered from local farm was lost in transport. They found it yesterday and delivered today. So the hay was in airtight transport bag for about 6 days. Is it still safe for my piggies?

I’m really sure your hay is fine. Six days isn’t enough to affect the hay in an air tight package. Don’t over think this it’s fine.

It’ll be absolutely fine. Itll be bagged and stored in shops for months without issue.

Being kept airtight in plastic is only an issue if it is kept in direct sunlight as it can then sweat but that is not likely to be the case in a delivery facility

Shops store sealed bags of hay for lengthy periods. As long as it’s been kept dry and out of sunlight it should be fine. When it arrives you can open it and give it the sniff test as a double check.
