Its now a WEEK since Willow has eaten anything other than her syringe feeding.
No poo at all since Thursday morning.
Dental op carried out last Monday and although I expected some problems straight after the op because they found overgrown sharp areas at the back teeth I did think she'd have managed to eat by herself by now.
4 Vet visits with her in the week and on plenty of meds: Loxicom for pain, Metoclopramide and Ranitidine for gut stimulation.
What else can I do as Vet suggested, on Friday visit that if nothing happens via the gut over the weekend it would probably mean the Rainbow Bridge.
I've had lots of advice over the week from Furryfriends (TEAS) and the GPM but poor wee soul still in difficulty.

oh dear that is not good. I'm not experienced enough to help in this area but has the vet checked for a blockage at all? Something preventing poo's being passed? As long as something is going in something should also be coming out no matter how small

I am sorry :( she is on the correct drugs.

Has she had X-ray?

I know. It is really distressing. I keep wondering too whether there is a problem with her jaw or still her teeth as she comes out and looks at the grass or clover etc I put in for her but just snuffles at it. Must be horrendous for her. Vet couldn't feel anything wrong in her stomach so Izvestia no idea what will be suggested tomorrow.

Vet hasn't suggested an X-ray as didn't seem to think anything wrong in her stomach etc. Willow and I at the end of our tether. Looks like she'd want to eat the grass but just can't then as I said, lots of meds going in but nothing coming out.

Will ask the Vet again tomorrow about any blockage. Why though does she look as if she'd like to eat the grass but doesn't manage! I feel cruel tempting her with the grass then she can't eat it, poor wee soul.

When I've been syringe feeding the poos are always smalle and fewer than normal, but I would have expected to see some poos by now, for sure. I think I'd be asking for an X-ray to check there isn't a blockage. Poor Willow (and poor you, too).

Thank you. Although we are having such an horrendous time it is reassuring to know other owners are there to given me some support.x

It's exhausting having poorly piggies. I've had my share, believe me.

@Janice C How is her weight? And how much syringe food are you giving each day?

When they've stopped peeing and pooping then it can take a lot of food to get their system going again.

I would ask for an xray tomorrow to rule out a blockage.

Does she feel bloated at all?

I think if she had a blockage she would be in severe pain, so its probably just slowing of the gut due to illness. I had a piggy who didn't pooh for about a week, then suddenly he did and didn't look back! It sounds as if you are doing all the right things.

I've had many piggies arrive at TEAS after dental work that hasn't worked, where the piggy hasn't pooed for many days. It can take about five days for the system to completely fill, ready to start passing poos, if it has been pretty much empty before. I think your priority right now is to keep syringe food going through her and once she is more stable to then look at getting her teeth re-looked at, as something clearly isn't right.

Hi Debbie,
Just to let you know that Willow had to be euthanised this morning as began to get very distressed in the middle of the night. Couldn't get anything into her as she was squeaking and struggling every time I tried.
The Vet was really kind, making sure she was gently exposed to the gas to sedate her prior to injecting her.
Thank you so much for being there all through my really difficult week.xx

You tried so very hard and gave her every chance. Sadly, sometimes it's not meant to be. Sending hugs. x

Sleep well Willow x
