Hello, I am wondering how long the average life span is for gpigs? I got my little one Miss Cinnamon in January of 1998.
She was a baby. She has moved across the country and even survived a dog(s) mishap. (that was a nightmare come to life). Her appetite is great, she eats like she always has. She is starting to look old, but she is still going strong. My question is how normal is it for gpigs to live 10 years? Should I be feeding her a special diet? Thank you guys for reading this post.

Well done in getting her to live this long
They can live upto 15 years i thinkis the longest lived?
average is about 4 to 6years
Sounds a character

Welcome to the forum. :) Wow thats fab 10 years! Ron is right 15 years is the oldest. Sounds like she is robust. :) Just keep doing what you are doing, it obviously works a treat. Any pics of the little miss. :)

You shouldnt be changing her diet now and you should be telling us what you feed her on for our pigs ;D

What have I been feeding her? Well.......stuff I guess I wasn't supposed to. She was raised with Godzilla the iguana, (whom she outlived :( ) So I used to make a big salad for the both of them everyday: collard greens, carrots, parsnips, cucumbers sometimes parsley, cilantro, mustard greens. Cinnamon also gets fresh apples everyday (her favorite). Since Godzilla died, I've been feeding her tons of spinach instead of the greens. Yeah, I know now that spinach is not good for them. She gets romaine lettuce everyday as her afternoon treat. I feed her "gourmet" type of pellets, with dried bananas and stuff in it which she loves. And a never ending supply of Timothy hay, but she isn't too crazy about it anymore. I have been consistent about giving her fresh fuits/veggies everyday. I tried to take pictures of her while ago but she won't stand still. I will try tonight when my husband gets home. I am really attached to this little one. This is my first and sadly last gpig for a very long time. I have a small cat sanctuary/rescue, and now 6 dogs, and I think it's just too dangerous to risk having a small caged animal in the middle of the all these carnivores.

Oh right :D They couldnt possibly of lived together so how did she get raised with an iguana ;D

I believe that it doesn't matter what they live on if they are going to live a long life it is all in the genes. Take my Nan (yeah I know she isn't a Guinea pig...lol) But she smoked all her life, ate bad food (as you did years back) and is still going strong at 94 years old (touchwood) Of course you can help the process by living healthly but I do believe it's all in the genes and this thing about you are what you eat is probably a load of old nonsense.

;D

You can only ask though ;) and i think that is great advice on what she has fed her piggy as mine never get that much so will definitely try some of mine on that stuff ;D
