how long do gunniepigs live for

i was wanting to no how long gunniepigs live for i had 2 gunniepigs that passed away 2 month ago i had them since they where babies they lived for 5 years is that long for a gunniepig life span? :'( :-\
 
5 is a good age. I believe if they have a good diet, good life and exercise they can live long and happy lives. 8 would be old. :)
