How Long Do Pellets Last?

My pair only have a few grams in a morning of Harringtons Optimum Guinea pig pellets but i have had the bag ages..

not sure if i read somewhere that they are no good after so long ?

I am sure someone can answer my daft question

Not sure! I know they start to degrade once opened, so I keep mine in a sealed tub to help. Not sure what the timeline is, though.

mine are in a sealed tin...... but had them at least since last Sept i reckon !

I keep mine in a sealed tub, and always cut the part of the bag with the 'best before' date on and tape this to the top of the tub.
I bought a new bag of pellets last week, and the best before is Oct 2016, so the brand I use has a shelf life of about 4 months.

I reckon that by now they would be past their best

I believe that the Vitamin C starts to perish after about three months, I read somewhere. So @artcasper, that bag from Sept should be thrown out. I recently threw out a bag of Bunny pellets that were four months old.

I looked in the utility and I still had the bag, some still in it and it says October 2016.... Does it matter about the vitamin c perishing when they are over a year old ?
It's no problems to buy another bag, just wanted to check..

you should be ok to feed pellets,just be aware to give vitamin c veg.they are still indate .
