Well it says all in title sometimes i feel really bad when my piggies cant go outside due to bad wetaher etc but whats the avergae time in good weather piggies should have out. Sorry if it seems silly question :embarassed:

I have mine out on good days for the whole day they are sheltered from the sun and love it. So from 10:30ish until 9pm at night! They would stay out all night if they could. Of course if I am out then they have to come in and when I run the school to get Emily my neighbour who is retired he comes in and sits with them, any excuse to see the cuteness he loves them! :smitten Poor man I think he is a bit bored always in the garden pottering around. ;D

mine are the same out from when i get up to basically when i go to bed lol unless its cooled off but during the high heat summer months they spend all day outside unless I'm going out and normally when I'm at work my mum will get them in/out

:( i feel really bad as mine get about 4-5 hrs in good weather is that been cruel

Oh thats fine. To be hoenst mine are hard to catch so I just leave them! :D Rabbits need 4 hours minimum per day I put Tika out in the morning and Harvey being bigger from half 3 until 9pm.

4/5 hours for pigs is fine! They cut my grass I don't need to mow it as much! :D

We have ours out from anything like 20 mins to a couple of hours depending on the weather. Bella gets runny eyes if its windy but enjoys sunbathing if its warm. I do worry about them eating too much grass but that probably explains why they never eat all their veg yesterday!

That is soooooooooooooooooo cute of him to piggy-sit!

I know he is a lovely man. He has ferrets. If he can't watch them I bring them in but mostly he does even when I don't need him to he comes in for a cuppa and he picks dandys for them from his garden. ;D

Awwww! Bless! 0:) :smitten:

Aw I so wish mine could be outside :-\ they'd really love it. I'm growing some grass for them in a tray, but it's not the same.

We only have a back yard - no grass sadly, but the little fella does get to run around free on really hot days.

mine dont go outside as we dont have a garden. instead they get to free range in the living room. once ive moved house we have a nice encloseed paved garden which they will run around in. sadly no grass though :(

I fell bab now for mine when I got the they lady told me not to let them out side for I have out side cats and my dogs go out there. I lett Sammy out to lay in the house if the dogs are out but not SteveO. May be I should

you cant leave them out too much! they keep the lawn down a treat - hence my user name :D

just be aware of them getting sun burn, people often forget this!

so make sure the run is in the shade or has a sheltered area,

also please ensure they have a water supply!

I prefer the runs with a built in shelter it protects from the rain too :)

I don't get home from work until just before 5. OH gets home between 4 and 5 so whoever gets home first puts the pigs in their run. They usually stay in there until about 9pm. At weekends, they come out for longer depending on the weather. I felt guilty in the winter because it was dark when I went to to work and dark when I came home so they couldn't go in the garden and couldn't come in the house for indoor time due to it being cold and dark etc. I'm dreading this winter because of it :(

I always put mine back if it rains

thats why i think it is important to have a large a hutch as possible to compensate for the days when they don't have access to a run

Nx :)

Must admit mine dont go out until its warm and dry as i always worry incase they get colds then become ill. Also agree with mower about having larger hutches to compensate for bad weather days.

Yes if it is raining I do put mine back too. Yesterday we had a downpour and it came out of the blue so Peter had to rescue Pudsey and Eccles. The build in house just gave them a little bit of shelter. Peter got drenched though...lol

I only have a back yard too  :( The advantage is though that the concrete keeps their nails nice and short  O0 We have a patch of grass at the front of the house but they would need to be supervised constantly plus it isn't level so they could easily escape from their run :(

If you can't let your pigs outside then don't worry. They don't NEED to go outside, they just enjoy it. They do need time out of their cage of course, but it doesn't necessarily have to be outside. At the moment my pigs can't go out because the run isn't secure after being stored for the winter :-\ but they still get lots of time out of their cage so they are happy.

never mind them keeping the gress down the spot in the garden where my pigs go during in the week when the kids are planning out (I'm a childminder) there is no class left where the 6 girls and 4 boys are so i have had to buy that grow a grass stuff for them so there can eat somes gress.

The grass is usually damp until about 11-12 so they go out about then if I'm at home. Then they stay out till about 5pm when I pop them home and give them their tea.

If the weather is set fine, I leave them out even if I'll be out for a while, e.g. school run. If I'm going out for the whole day, they have to stay inside.
