Ir's been nearly 8 months since Treacles passing and 7 since Humbug. BonBon is doing ok, but has never been the same. She chatters her teeth a lot, which she never used to do, and doesn't like handling as much either.
She still makes a beeline for the spare room, where her and her cage mates used to play, Truffles and Tilly have little interest in joining her.
I think Guinea Pigs remember a lot more than we give them credit, I feel for her, and she gets extra cuddles every day :(

I agree guinea pigs as well as all animals understand and even go through the grieving process, have you ever tried her with a new pig maybe she would like to make a new friend

Poor bonbon. When we lost Peronel, Amelia Jane changed. She has never been the same since. She bites the bars all the time and just seems like she wants something but she does not know what.

@Caviequeen she has two young friends, and is friendly with Tilly the youngest Sow, but she doesn't seem to connect with them the same way as her other sisters. At play time she'll go off exploring by herself, or i'll find her sat on her own away from the other two.

maisie had a case of prolonged grief after losing chesney, even though eddie came to live with her two weeks after. she loves eddie and they get on so well, but something did change when ches went and she did seem to take a long time to fully let go of the grief. x

Poor Bonbon! Piggies don't forget and never stop missing their best friends.

Llewelyn had a very happy second life as patriarch of the new Tribe group with lots of young sow-wives, yet you could clearly see just how much he was missing his much adored old grand lady Dizzy by how enthusiastically he welcomed four year old Fflur into the Tribe; sadly she died in an emergency operation only seven weeks later. :(

Nerys is still missing her best friend Hafina after three years, and no lady will ever come close to Rhosyn for Maelog... Although both have found contentness with new companions, I am happy to say.

Its so sad! And to think people think piggies are just basic little unimportant pets with no feelings or emotions!

when cookie lost her sister she grieved for just over a year, then one day she started to come out of herself again and join in with the group again she was living at the time with 6 others so she had friends but it wasn't the same.
