How long does forage keep?

I’m relatively new to forage (ish?) and just wondering if the forage at home they had 5 months ago will still be fine to use, it’s all kept in little freezer bags, planning to buy the summer parcel anyway but don’t want to throw out a ton of older forage if it can still be eaten

Mine are spoiled boys still have bags of forage from the winter package, the textures were all ok on the leaves before I left

The summer package has their favourite herbs and some new things they haven’t tried yet, excited to order, I love unpacking it and they start zooming when they hear

It will be fine.
It may loose a bit of colour (and I am assuming flavour) but there won't be anything wrong with it, so it can still be fed.
I collect a lot of forage for mine and just found an old tin in the garage - the leaves must be at least 8 months old, but the piggies and rabbits seemed happy enough to eat them.

I’m glad I can continue to use it, there’s still so much left, ended up with multiple bags of the same leaves

I'm still very new to all of this but if you give forage, do you have to reduce their veg intake? Or just put the forage in their hutch just like hay? Should it be limited amounts or unlimited like the hay?

I give it as an occasional treat. Once a week at most though I tend to forget it’s there. I give the same amount of veg even if they get forage.

@Sally Newbie - forage is regarded as an occasional treat for my two. They get some sprinkled and hidden amongst their hay

If you’re in the UK and looking for forage I highly recommend piggie parcels, ran by our own forum member and the forage is always excellent. Just ordered the summer package

When it's cold in the winter mine get a bit every day with a little sprinkle of pro-biotic on the top. They are in an unheated garage and although I provide lots to keep them warm (snugglesafes, snugglesacks, snuggle tunnels, loads of hay, a snuggle cover on the hutch as well as a thermal one etc) I still feel like I need to provide a bit extra to help them keep warm. In the summer it's an occasional treat. I still give the same amount of veg.
