One of my rodents ate a largish piece of plastic bag again last night.

He’s managed it once before but only had time for a small piece then but this time he had a good inch squared.

When I left for work this morning at 7.30am he looked fine and was eating OK but I sorted through all the poos snapping them in two looking for the plastic to see if it’s come through yet and it hasn’t.

When should I expect to see it?

Generally the turnaround (input to output) averages 12-24 hours. As long as the pig is eating, peeing and pooping well he should be fine, just make sure he doesn't seem to get bloated at all (painful and distended abdomen) in the next day or two. An inch squared isn't a huge amount, of course he would have been better eating none but it clearly appealed in some way!

mine have a thing for plastic bags too - there has been a few sneaky nibbles.

Wonder what the appeal is?

My Freddie managed to eat a hole in not only the plastic topshop bag but my new patent leather handbag inside! He was alright though even if I didnt speak to him for a couple of hours ;)

(and also, I was under the impression that Guinea Pigs arent actually "rodents" as you keep calling them?)

Rumball’s OK!

I didn’t ever find the offending article though, he must have chewed it very, very well, I just couldn’t see it.

What are you giving your rodents handbags to play with for idlewildgirl?

I try and make everything as safe as possible around my two and don’t leave things lying around. Rumball only got the bag cos I had my back turned and I’d leant it up against a box not realising he had gone inside it and was nibbling away out of view. Swine.

Henry my dead rabbit used to attack bags at every opportunity too but he’d just like to rip stuff and wouldn’t swallow, Rumball is out to eat anything in the pen.
