It has now been a week since Pepper's operation on his teeth (he had malocclusion) and he is still very thin. He has been eating quite a lot of grass, fennel and dandelions and I have been getting about 10mls of apple and carrot (and probiotic) smoothie down per day. He was around 850 grammes a week and a half ago, but I fear he may have lost a bit in the first few days after the opp. How long does it take for a guinea pig to get back to full weight or just gain a noticeable amount?

Within the week you should've seen a slight change in his weight. Do you weigh him often to give you a more accurate amount of his weight (put on or lost)?

Duke has had teeth probs for a long time, i weigh him everyday so i know just exactly what's happening. Check Pepper's weight :), can you also feed mushed up pellets as well, this great as it's good dietary requirements and it makes them use their teeth to chew the pieces O0
Have a look on Barmy4Boars or health on here and check out other threads it may help you a bit. I do wish you all the best, patience and a lot of TLC for your Pepper and believe me it's worth it :smitten:

good luck and hope little pepper is alright :smitten:

Thanks everyone. His eyes look a bit sunken today, but he is still squeaky. I have really inaccurate food scales to weigh him with which are fairly useless. His poos this morning were huge - like 3 normal ones stuck together, but he managed to pass them in the night - is this a sign of too much grass? I have given him less grass today. One other thing - any ideas for high energy foods anyone?
