Emma and Erika are both on a course of Septrin for a mild UTI. I was given a fresh bottle from the vets today but I have found two bottles in my medicine box from last year. One of the bottles has been opened (May 2014) and one hasn't (November 2014) When I say bottles, I mean the brown prescription bottles they pour it in to from the main bottle.

I'm just wondering whether anyone knows if they are safe to use?

I would say the May one definitely needs to be discarded but the November one may be ok as it is just 6 months, really though I wouldn't take the risk x

Your May one is definitely over and the November one is borderline (6 months).

Yes, these medicines, once they are dispensed don't last very long. They wouldn't harm your piggy but they just may not be effective. Hope they get well soon! X
