Hi all

I'm planning to adopt a couple of rescue guinea pigs. I'm away at the end of June (Glastonbury) and I'm planning to wait until my partner has moved in and my house mate has moved out (looking like August time) before I adopt so that everything is settled! I'm using the interim time to get prepared (and this forum has been incredibly informative for that!)

I was just wondering when I'd need to start looking / registering with rescue centres? I'm definitely not ready yet but I'm not sure how long the process usually takes?

I live in the UK, in Oxfordshire.

Cheers!

When I rescued in April it took less than a week but then I had enquired about a specific pig to join my current ones. I contacted the rescue through Facebook on the Saturday, they called me on Monday and I think the local RSPCA came to do the home visit on the Wednesday.

If you are setting up for the first time any reputable rescue will want to see the accommodation/set up you have so once you order the housing that's when I would start checking. You could always see if any of your local rescues are on social media as they often post about babies born in rescue that might not be ready to be rehomed until you are if you get me. That way you might be able to reserve them early
