How long have your guinea pigs lived for?

Hi My names Monica and I'm new to this forum so, hello to everyone! :)

Ive always loved guinea pigs.

I had my first when I was just 10yrs old. His name was Bubble and he was black and white and I loved him to bits. He died at the age of 7yrs old. Ive always believed this is old for a guinea pig as I was always told they only live to around 5-6yrs. I was wondering if there was anyone who had a guinea pig that lived to be older than 7 or not?
 
I think there has been one mentioned on here that turned 9. I have a 6.5 year old at the moment, doing well. xx
 
oh you are lucky, i have had three so far, i lost one at a year old, and two recently at three and a half.....i feel cheated...hopefully the two i have now will last forever :)
 
well I'm glad to see he was quite old, unfortunately it wasnt old age that got him :( He unfortunately dies of a stroke.
I had gone to college, as I was running I asked my dad to uncover him and feed him. My dad found him in the living area of the cage, he was trying to move but couldnt and when my dad picked him up he found he couldnt move 1 side of his body, he then began to gasp and died 5 minutes later in my dads arms :0 Even though I would of liked to have been there for him as I had looked after him everyday from when I was 10 to 17 I'm just glad he didnt die alone.

Even though its been 9yrs since he died it still upsets me to talk about him :0

And I have only just bought a new guinea pig ( we have called him Rocky as hes quite broad, hes a pereuvian corss) especially as my son has wanted 1 for a long time and I hope he brings as much joy as my Bubble bought to me :)
 
My first guinea pig was around 2 1/2 years old when he died, his friend is still with me at 3 years old but not doing well at the moment. Just respery infection and mites tho.
 
My first two lived til 6.5 and 7 years. :) My ones I have now are youngsters, except one unknown aged one.
 
The youngest was Tom, believed to be aged 3, next Snug, aged 4, Sam was nearly 6, and Jez was just a little over 6. I still have Rupert, who is 5 and a half.
We knew exact ages for Sam and Snug, becuase we had them from babies adopted from a woman in the village. The others were rescue pigs, so ages are an educated (?) guess :(|)
 
My oldest got to 9 years. I've just lost my LilyPig at 7 1/2 years. Most of mine get to at least 5, if I lose one younger than that that it's usually a genetic problem/overwhelming illness. They are all rescues and of unknown genetic background.

All mine live indoors throughout the entire winter in a heated conservatory. Summer in a fully insulated shed so the temp is stable, fans on in the hot weather and garden time in good weather. I don't give high calorie treats or mineral licks. I treat regularly for mites every 3 months. I bed them on dust extracted woodshavings and don't get the health problems often blamed on them, if I did I wouldn't use them!

I would say that 5-7 is an average age for a piggy to get to though I have known four get to 11 years but they weren't mine.

My Mum's pig Bruno lived til over 8 years old, and his cage mate was 7 when he passed.
 
My last Guinea died a few weeks ago, she was 8, my other one died 6 months previous. They both died of old age. Still wasn't nice to witness though.

Hopefully my new two (soon to be 3) will live for at least that long!
