One of the piggies I brought home last night has really long fut which is a bit dirty and knotty.

How long shall I wait until I bath him? Is ok to do it straight away or does he need to settle in first?

I think you need to do this straight away. See if you can cut out any big knots first them bathe him, dry and comb and again cut out any thing that is causing the piggiy distress if you cant comb it out.

Yes I would do it right away too. When I got Snowdrop a few weeks ago she was looking a bit manky so I gave her a nice bath and blow dry before she was reunited with her friends again. :))

I felt I should do it straight away too as, in the long run, it will make him more comfortable.

He obviously wasn't brushed at all by his previous owner. He is pure white but his poor little bum is yellow :(

ohhh the poor little thing
yes wash him straight away and hopefully the yellow will fade with time
Bless him

If his fur is too long it might get caught on something in the cage and that would make him much more unsettled than a bath would. I think bath would be good, especially a warm one if it isn't too hot where you live :)

Well, we bathed him last night :)

We dry combed him first and he was VERY matted around his bum so we had to cut most of it out :(

He struggled a bit when we shamppoed him but he seemed to like the blow-drying! His fur feels so much better bless him. He doesn't have a name yet. His cage mate (his son) is black and white and called Oreo so I am trying to think of something to go with that. He is pure white with red eyes, long fur and cute turned over ears!

Sorry the pigture isn't great...I had to take it with my phone as I can't find my camera!

I'm glad all went okay and he didnt mind it too much! he probably feels a lot more comfortable now!

hmm for names, thats a tough one, I'm usually useless on this! i shall get thinking for you!

It's good that everything worked out.
If he was mine and his brother was Oreo, I would name him Aero.(pronounced Air-o) ^^ but I'm weird like that.
