after using weed killer on the lawn before putting my piggies out on the grass? About a month ago my dad weed killed our lawn, its been mown twice since then and has been rained on quite a bit. On the box it doesnt say anything about how long to wait until its safe for pets to eat but says to mow it three times before using the grass mulch. Its such a lovely day and i would love for my pigs to be out on the lawn enjoying the sunshine but I'm worried it might not be safe for them yet.

Hmm I'm sorry i can't offer any help on that but BUMP ! i've never thought about anything like weed killer and things, but my piggies have only ever been outside twice !

I would be very careful about putting them on the lawn in the foreseeable future.

If we ever treat our grass (rarely) we do it in the Autumn after the piggies have their last run out on the grass. by the following Summer it is always safe.

Bear in mind that the weed killer gets into the roots of the grass & the soil too, so in my opinion it will be very risky to put them out on it at least until the summer. Guineas are very sensitive to poisons/pesticides.

Until it is safe, why not grow your own grass and then put them outside over a fleece and playpen :) Least they can hear the birds and smell the air... almost the same...

My issue is that weed killers can sit on the ground/dirt.........
I'm sure there's been a thread or i've read about this before.
Be really careful love, i'd be thinking about asking a neighbour or a family member if they have some safe grass you could cut.
And yeah fab idea to grow your own -c

Maybe in future i'd ask your Dad if he could designate an area for you for you babies :)
I have two areas i use, my hubby has instructions that neither can be totally mowed or hacked with the whipper snipper at the same time....i must have at least a month or so between so grass can grow properly in the meantime.
