Hello, the 2 babies twinkle and star have been being treated for suspected ring worm / fungal since 13th dec, there coats are growing back nicely and the scabs which were bumps in the skin have fallen off.

Does any one know who long I should keep them separate from the older girls they were paired with?

I'm not 100% convinced it was ring worm after all now a lot of people say its really hard to get rid on and stays around for ages but this seems to be clearing up really quickly, none of the other pigs have caught it including the 2 older sows they were living with or my self who handles them daily (although I have been using the F10 hand gel and disinfectant everywhere) I cant find out for certain as the vets have been closed all over Xmas.

I'm just eager to start re bonding these 2 babies with the older sows again, although i don't want to jump the gun if its too early

In my experience it's worth giving it 6 - 8 weeks, at least, and making sure that all fleece, wooden housing and anything else that is in their cage is either thrown away and replaced, or cleaned with boiling hot water to kill any spores (or mites, if indeed it is not ringworm)

I 'rescued' 2 babies from a pet shop that were covered in ringworm (had cultures done at the vets) and it did keep popping back up, in smaller amounts, on their feet and ears. Their coats cleared up nicely, and after 2 1/2 months they seemed to have no further outbreaks. Hope this helps and your piggies continue to improve!

Thanks Charlie84, is that 6-8 weeks from the initial treatment of when they look clear? thanks Kelly

would say from when they start to look clearer / improving well. Others may know more though! I might be being over cautious! :)
