until mites should clear up after treatment?
I treated minnow with beaphar anti parasite spot on last week and I'm wondering when it will be safe for me to introduce her to daisy?
shes been in quarrantine for four weeks now and i feel sorry for her because shes all on her own and craves a friend, she snuggles up to her bunny teddy at the moment, bless her.

Are you treating for an active infestation or as a precaution? How many treatments have you given, how many days apart?

Beaphar has a poor reputation for effectiveness, Xeno 450 is more widely used and often prescribed by vets where appropriate(or Xeno 50 for smaller/younger piggies).

thanks for your reply.
She has an infestation, she was given a very very tiny amount of invermectin orally 2 weeks ago, she had such a small amount because she was only 4 weeks old.
Shes now 6 weeks old and under 300g so had to give her the beaphar for hamsters. (1 and a half pipettes)
thank you for your advice on xeno 450, how long should i wait before administering it after the beaphar?
Also how will i be able to tell the infestation is finally gone?
its just i would hate Daisy to get them, especially as they seem to be tricky to get rid of.
Do you have any extra tips for getting rid of them?
I'm sorry for all the questions, i just really need some guidance.

Ivermectin treatments for an active infestation would normally be given every 10 days for three treatments - for treating one that age I would expect Xeno50 to be used under vet guidance. After the third treatment she will be clear and safe to meet other pigs.

If the treatment is going to work I would advise one more dose 10 after the last spot on so that 3 treaments (inc the first oral) have been given. Once applied leave it 48 hrs before you introduce her to other pigs to give the treatment time to deal with any live mites.


I would advise giving the vet a ring to double check everything though.
