Wonder if anyone can help? I am unsure of how long I should leave my pigs out in their run for daily? Any help appreciated Xx

Hi, I put my boys out in their run as often as possible, but only in dry conditions and if on to the grass for about 1 hour max at a time, I never want them to eat too much grass as it can cause bloat I believe.

My boys enjoy being out on the patio just as much as the grass...and its good for keeping their nails worn down too

Thanks for your help! I was always weary of putting them out on the patio/hard ground because I always thought it would hurt their little feet but maybe I'm wrong?

Please take note of the temperatures - don't put your piggies on very hot or cold/damp ground or grass. They can go on patio slabs. I do a check with my own bare feet - it is damp, cold or hot for me, it will also be for the piggies. Guinea pigs don't deal well with extremes of temperatures nor big drops or rises.

Check their feet regularly to avoid bumble foot (foot infection).

If its your piggies first time on the grass then you should only really let them out for about 20-30 minuets, no more, grass is very rich and so you should slowly increase there time outside or else they could get ill from eating too much in one go, my pigs started for about 20 minuets, then 40 then an hour and then nearly 2 hours and so on untill now they stay out nearly all day weather permitting of course (:

Oops.. I let mine out for about 2 hours when it was their first time! I will limit it a bit more now that you have told me this! Thanks for your help XX
