Its roughly 3x2 on both levls which would work out at 1 level as obviously 6x2 which holds 4 but personally I would only put 2 in it, max but I would want them to live comfortably and adults can grow massive! :)

What about on days like today? (its pouring with rain here!) and throughout the winter? Pigs cant go out on wet/damp grass or if its cold, so 4 piggies stuck in a cramped hutch will be rather unfair on them :(

Yeah just 2/3 as you cant always put them out because of the weather. :)

I had the rabbit shack version of this which is a little bigger and I had Elmo and Hamish in there and I thought that was a bit of a squeeze....2 adult boars especially, need a bit more space and Hamish wouldnt let poor Elmo into the bedroom compartment.....:{

We got ours on special offer (£80), so the bigger one was quite a lot more. We have a bit of the house that will suit them when it is raining outside. It's a little area that they can't escpape from with a light coloured floor to see any presents they leave behind!

Oh sorry - didn't realise you had bought the hutch already.:red Yes I remember them being on offer a couple of weeks ago.:) I got the Lavender Lodge one for my two little piggies and they love it.:)

The RSPCA minimum cage size for two guinea pigs is 2ftx4ft. This cage works under the minimum cage size in both directions.

You can only count one level for the living space. Having another level does not count towards the cage size. Having the ramp to another level actually decreases the living space availible to the guinea pig, therefore it would actually need compensating by having extra space.

This cage is too small for 2 pigs.

I mean I have 5ft x 3ft run and I have 4 adults in there, I do really need a bigger run, but they seem to get on alright in there together, and at the moment they are out all day on the grass so the runs only used as a night shelter.

soz to hijack.

Well said Maria.....sometimes they look nice and cosy, but the real dimensions arent quite right.

I have this cage (two levels) and have 2 smallish adult girls in there.

I have only just read the post above (DOH) but agree wholeheartedly, the top area hardly counts as living space as it is basically a corridor leading to a sleeping compartment. I think it is probably only suitable for one fully grown guineapig if it is spending a lot of time in there. I don't worry too much about my girls, as they have a huge run for all day and in the winter their shed they can run around and play in, so they have lots of exercise. However, if they were just in this cage it would be insufficient. Another reason I've been very disappointed with this cage is the poor quality soft wood that it is made of, in many places it seems to be made of a kind of 'reformed light fibre wood' (I can't describe it!) Within minutes the girls had eaten holes through the ramp, infact you can use your own finger nail just to break bits off - very disappointing as a good hard wood would last much much better.

Thanks all. It looks as though we will need to get another guinea-pig and split into two lots of two then (hee hee, I am dying to get another guinea; they are so addictive, why is that?).

Do you think it will be fair to split one of the three baby boars off (probably the least dominant when I finally work out who that is) and put him in with a much younger male baby?
