I have 18 piggies at the moment 8 boys 10 girls i was supposed to be only keeping 4 a pair of boys and a pair of girls but thats gone up to five girlies and two boys and I'm thinking about keeping another boy XD

Wow, that's a lot. Do you have them in small groups or big herds? I'd like to have a large herd really I was wondering if you think piggys like being kept in large groups? Xx

ive 3 groups of neutered boar and sows.i pair of boars,i trio of boars....22 piggies in total.ive only had piggies for three years, but it is now a passion !

Wow 22! I've been thinking I'd like a large herd of piggies in one big accommodation. Do you find they are happy in larger or smaller groups?

I have 5.Two bonded boars, two bonded sows and a recently neutered boar who will hopefully be joining the 2 sows once its safe following his neutering.I would eventually love a little herd-a neutered boar and about 6 sows. While I have my lovely rabbits who need tonnes of space, thats not possible but maybe one day in the future I could.

Like you I'd like 5 - 6 sows and a neutered boar but wondered if they are happier in herds or smaller groups xx

Do you have them all living separately or in a big herd? Xx

We have 3 pairs of boars and a single boar, which are all in separate cages but close to each other. We also have 2 pairs of sows again in separate C & C cages next to each other.. x

The females are in a large heard but boys are harder to bond and keep just in treos

I find it very much depends on the personalities, with boys pairs are best,1 neutered boar to 3 females or less seems to work best in my short amount of experience .really is personalities of each group, but boys are best in pairs,I'm just lucky i had an older boar to two very laidback adolescent boars and a big cage for them to go in 6x2 cage.

I have 6 4 boys 2 girls... I accidently got a pregnant piggie and decided to keep all the babies :) and I couldn't be happier. the babies are 3 weeks and 2 days old and keep me lovely and busy

We only have two at a time. I would love a bigger herd, but as we travel back and forth to the cottage in the summer, I need to be able to pack them all up to go. Along with the pigs, we also have a Syrian hamster and a betta fish.

5 - a neutered boar, 2 mature females and 2 daughters of one of the girls!

We have 3 all girls. Vimto, Sarsaparilla and Widget.

Vimts and Sassp are 4yrs and Widge is 3yrs old

I have 9. T castrated male with 2 sows in a trio, a trio of boars and a trio of baby girls. I'd quite like to get my girl trio & my neutered boar/girl trio into a herd next year though :) I do love having a group of piggies.

hello,
my 13th birthday was on the fourth of December, now before you say that I'm too young for this.. I have just come for an opinion on something as I look up to all of you,
Now you see, I have a little sister called Amy,and she is eight years old now. Wait- before I say more. Let me tell you about my piggie(s).
Well it all started in around 2013,I had a bunny at my grandparents house and he sadly died so my nan said 'no more animals' and my mother then said (as I was so upset) I know, I will get you a guinea pig. So off we went to pets at home where I found my little rolo and then Amy said 'I want one!' As you could probably imagine I was not happy as I knew that she would not care for him as he was a living, breathing creature but anyway spot came too with us and about six months later, Amy dropped spot and he broke his little leggy and the vet said to put him down however my family said we will give him a chan(as they had just previously put my rabbit down). And miraculously he healed and he was all fine until about less then 2 months ago, I started to notice some discharge out of spots eyes and nose and it was all over him ( bless him) so I told my mum that we NEED to and HAD to take him to the vets (as I had been looking after my piggies as my sis didn't care for them!) about a few weeks later we took rolo and spotty and it was revealing that he had a respiratory disease/infection and that he had to have lots of medication any way, £100-200 later, he died at 2am the next morning before he could even receive all of the medication. So that leaves poor rolo on his own and he is very depressed-not eating or drinking or anything (not even red peppers or anything juicy fruit or veg!). So I keep telling my mum that he should get new company as he can't go on like this (hopefully for the rest of his 6 years he has in him) but I need your opinion as my mum says she isn't having any more pets and she seems to think he is fine but I need some advice as this is NOT who my rolo is and I'm getting extremely worried about him. ( a reason not is that I'm scared that they will fight or not get on properly) but please any help or advice I can have is well appreciated as I am very stuck in what to do. Also some advice on what to say to my family to persuade them into getting a new companionship for my piggy as I know they are meant to be heard animals. (If you are wondering, the cage is in my bedroom and I am/was before spot died raising money for a big hutch as I feel it needs another extension as he grows and gets a bit older) also (I am thinking of adopting from a rescue as I feel it is the right way to go about it
!)
thank you sooooo much

Kind regards

Sophie
