I have just realised i have 3 soon to be 4 cages besides the main cage..... One is a smaller transport cage which we use for short journeys vet trips for example. Another is a larger travel cage/hospital cage for when we go long distances, i.e. to the caravan. Another is a cage we use if his mum looks after them at her house and the soon to be other spare one is one we would use if OH's dad were to look after them......

I will keep them all incase i ever foster any piggles or need them, just for....well....more piggies :))

I have 2!

One is a 120cm one that I used to quarantine Maisie and am now keeping for future fostering/boarding ventures (as it has a stand too)

The other - can't remember what size it is but my mum kept her bunnies in it in winter mallethead - think it may be a 120 but not sure. Anyway I always kept that as a spare too and need to find it and see how big/good it is and see what I want to do with it!

I have a double tier indoor cage spare. It's HUGE.
I was given it for free along with a ton of toys when I offered to take a rabbit off someone's hands because they couldn't look after her anymore.

I'm about to collect two large indoor cages on Saturday, and I don't even have piggies. But when offered anything like this, I will never say "no" - someone will always need them.

I have two spare cages. One of them I place them in when I'm cleaning their CC out and the other one is just a spare. We are keeping both until we move house and then I'm thinking of selling the smaller one.

You know, a single boar who has to live alone could quite happily live in one if those in your living room ;)

I was just thinking this :))

Forgot to mention the cage that is left at the caravan..... but is used when we are there.

All of our spare cages could come in handy one day :)) Atleast the OH doesn't have an excuse now of "where will they go" because they can take their pick ha ha. Only problem in lac of space in the caravan..... need to figure out how to get around that one.

Where do people keep getting these free cages from lol

I'm involved with a small cat rescue, and one of the fosterers was given the two cages by someone who thought they would be good for keeping kittens in! She thought of me, and I said yes please!

Bonus, one of my work colleagues - mum has kept small animals as pets for years and has recently set up a boarding centre and has been looking for cage/hutch donation's but she never gets any responses. I have put an ad on our local freecycle, so hopefully that will help.

I have a spare 100x50cm and a 120x60cm cage which come in handy during illness, letting new piggies get their bearings pre-introduction and the odd spot of piggy bank collecting/boarding.

I also have a 10 grid cable tied C&C travel pen stored in the original box which can go easily in the car. It can be extended if necessary. All I need is a couple of Ikea cupboard lining rolls, a couple of towels and a fleece, and hey presto!

I have 6. 1 huge feraplast that's the size of a large 2 seater sofa, 1 100cm double, 2 feraplast 100 and 2 smaller ones that come in handy for rescue hedgehogs. They just sit in the shed as I might need them one day? :{

A couple of 100cm, one adapted to be (mostly) degu proof as my little 3 footed fella sometimes gets a pressure sore starting on his stump and has to be flat on fleece for a couple of weeks. Mind you he's a lot less porky now he has a woman to chase. Not sure why that doesn't work for marmaduke, the more women he gets the more 'magnificent' he gets. Oh and there's the 100cm the old girls came in in the greenhouse. And a wooden run in the shed I don't use, plus a 7 foot run I do, and a c&c setup with a big plastic sheet for runs in the winter.

Plus no less that 3 spare degu/chinchilla cages although I'm going to donate one to the RSPCA when I get around to it.

A number of 2 foor and I think 2 3 foot tanks from when we had jirds and gerbils.

And don't even get me started on accessories - think there's 3 spare chinchilla wheels around as well.

That's what 15 years of small animal keeping does for you.

I have two 100cm cages in my shed,
One from when i had my piggies as babies, it was the cage i was recommended to by and later became the cage Marmite lived in for a while. Until i was given a free 120 cage by a friend who had helped rescue some piggies.
The other after being part of a rescue myself where i had to take two piggies to a rescue, i was offered the two cages the piggies had been kept in to say thank you along with alot of other things.
I kept the smaller ferplast cage as it folded away easily and at the time i didn't have a spare cage, and my two fosters where in a hutch that was making them really jumpy as i was always peering over them. So they lived in that for a while and now it's in my shed.
I don't want to get rid of them as i may be bonding my boar soon and if all goes pear shaped at least i can keep and house the other piggy !

I have 4 140 cages in the loft - keep them for winter if it gets too cold in the shed or for illness.

I currently have baby winnie-willow in one of them until she is over her fungal infection and bonded with Jessie.

I'm sure i have a 100 cage in the loft too but can honestly say i've never used it.

i have kept ches and maisies old cage, their trixie 150. it was meant to go under their new cage when we moved as a huge storage drawer/extra cage incase we ever needed it, but we haven't moved yet so it's just in the shed at the moment. rolleyes

I have a double indoor cage and 2 normal indoor cages! :)
I have 2 hutches aswell

Hi I've got 2 indoor cages, the ferplast (?) type. Got them both for nothing from freecycle/freegle.It's well worth checking it out. Both cages came complete with accessories, houses, hay racks, water bottles etc. Thanks to freecycle I also managed to rescue 2 beautiful guinea pigs instead of buying them, Jo

I have a 5ft hutch in the garden with 4 sows in it. A 'spare' 4ft hutch in the garage. 2 indoor Ferplast (100 i think) in the spare room with new mum, Freckles and her 4 babies in one and heavily pregnant Biscuit in the other. I was given a hutch by my colleague this week, it's hand made, very sturdy and will evenutally house some of my expanding brood!

I have a spare set of C & C grids. Had lots of fun with my other half seeing what sort of guinea utopia we could build but we're a bit low on space in our flat at the moment.

I have about 6 small indoor cages that I've taken off people because I think they're too small for rabbits and guinea pigs. I don't know what to do with them now so they're stored in the shed. mallethead
