Just curious how much peoples vets charge?

At my vet a consultation for a small animal (ie mouse - rabbit) is £12.77

No idea how much anything else costs though lol (although Tic's (hamster) eye drops cost under £7

I havnt took my piggies to the vets so i dont know.
My mum took Spice once and it cost her £27 just for the vet to say Spice was the healthiest pig he's ever seen!
::)

An appointment at regular vets is £12, but had to take Harry to emergency vets...
They quoted £44 just to be seen, but the vet must have taken pity on the kids and only charged £36.50 inc Baytril.

I guess that means the consultation fee is £27, because all extra charges would be medication..that's expensive just for a piggy :o

Yep!
Mine have never had any health problems (touchwood) except for the odd spout of fungal which was treated with GG shampoo. I do there nails and check them weekly.

Mine charge £11 for consultation. When Cuzzy had mites it cost me £22.00 so not too bad. :)

I went to get nails clipped on all three boars in the summer and wasn't charged at all! They are really good my vets. It pays for them to be nice I suppose!

Will it be wildly different, due to the area we live in?
Cost of living and all that.
North/ south price divide.
Just wondered. :)

Hmm..no idea..I imagine if you live in a city centre it will be more expensive?

My vets charge £10.88 for a consult. And if the piggie has to back for ongoing treatment they only charge for the treatment and not another consult which is good.

Tooo much id say there a rip off >:(
£30 odd pound to put my gorg boar asleep :'( and yet they want to help out your animals YEAH RIGHT ::)

I dont know but I'd assume about 20 as every time we've gone we've needed to buy medicine and its always come to about £35

When Treacle gave birth and was bleeding it cost me about £25 she had antibiotics and an injection to hep with re hydration without this I am sure she would of died of toxemia she looked fine bright aleart and eating but I took her for my own peace of mind.
Rimmer took him to be neutered cost me £15 plus I had an RSPCA voucher for £15 towards the cost of his neuter our vet charges £30 for a neutering.
I do not think my vets over charge but the one near my mums is very over priced. When I was enquiring about neutering a long while ago the price was as little as £20 to as much as £75 across the city centre.

I voted under £5 but i dont pay a consultation fee for the piggies or Chins. The vet knows i run a rescue so he doesnt charge a consultation and he gives me any treatment at cost price.

My vets only charge a consultation fee on initial visits. Follow ups they don't. In addition, when I bring in any new animal, check ups are free. They do this to encourage new owners to bring in their animals but it benefits me having several piggies!

hi cost me £14.20 to have all four of mine checked over good price i think.

£15 Initial consultation. My vets has a reputation for being expensive but they are open 24/7 and have a rodent specialist. Plus I've rung for advice and not been charged.

thats cheap for an emergency consultation! my vets doesnt do a emergency thing, so it has to be done through the local pdsa vet (who are useless with anything smaller than a rabbit!)

anyway i took bob for an emergency vet visit and had to pay over £70 upfront! i would have been happy paying £44 for an emergency vet trip

a regular consultation at my regular vet is £16 which i dont think is too bad considering other vet prices in the area

Ours is £9.96 for the vet fee then whatever medications costs. They've stopped charging us on return visits for some reason.. Maybe it's because my mum phoned up to complain when they were charging us everytime we took Buttons back for a check up.That came to just under £80 not including medication and operations. With Misty they only charged us the £9.96 once then when we took Brandy and Sooty to get their teeth checked they only charged us £9.96. We thought they would have charged us double that for seeing both of them.

mine charges £8 for a consultation for any small animal, we had the hamster there not long ago and they charged him £8 too!

then plus any meds on top.. when gucci had her op though the following check ups after her op to have stitches out etc were free i think, i paid £109 in total which included the op plus a check up.. so maybe it wasnt free haha i dunno!

mine dont seem the most expensive, but they could be cheaper!

My vet was rather expensive BUT when I was looking after my neighbours animals and had the problem horse I had to call his vet and she was so so lovely to me... to cut the story short the horse had to be put down and I was in a right state.... well the vet rang me the next day to ask me how I was! Ive been with my vet 15 years and she has never rang me so I made a decision there and then to change vets.... now ive not had the need to see my vet for AGES then I got the puppy and all hell broke loose so I was down the vets 3 times in a week! Then I had to return with the cat.... anyhow I actually think their prices are very reasonable, this is what I was charged:

First visit with puppy - anti sickness injection and worm tablet given - £28.91
2nd visit with puppy - stool sample taken, special food given £37.04
3rd visit with puppy - anitbiotics given and some paste to line the gut £24.00
4th visit with puppy - antibiotics given £16.60
Stool sample repeat test - £35.00

CAT
Consulation - antibiotic injection and course of antibiotics £28.54

I actually thought these were reasonable? Well at least compared to my other vets anyhow!

I pay in euros. Mine charges 25€ for consultation. But sometimes I don't pay anything. But I know that other vets in Portugal charges much more than mine because they are few in Portugal.

here in bristol they are expensive, i had a to pay £27 for a consultation and a cream and it was the tiniest cream ive ever seen in my life.

My vets are expensive, they all are around here. They charge £17 per consultation everytime you go even if its an on going problem. It cost me over £100 to have my guinea pig treated for mange mites and fungal infaction. Iv just had my two cats in the vets today and it cost me £173 to have them both neutered and microchiped.

Hi our vet must be the cheapest ever we took our six guinea pigs for mite treatment he used spot on first for 4 weeks on all the pigs then said it would be better to give them all a course of injections just to make sure so we said okthinking this wont be cheap so he went ahead that was for 3 weeks for all six we thought the bill we got for all the treatment was wrong so we queried it they double checked it and they said in total it came to wait for it it surprised us are you ready in total for seven weeks treatment for our 6 wee pigs it was £ 25 in total and that was it we thought it would be that for each treatment we thought we would have to pay it up a week at a time that is why we got them to double check the bill and they were happy with what they had charged us and so where we very happy

my squeak had a scan for bladderstone, an op, lots of injections and medicine and i had to take him to the emergaency vets at night.
all this cost me at least £250.

and they did not make him better, as he passed away. :'(

Molly broke her toe and the vet bandaged it up for £25 only for Molly to chew the bandage off before the morning ::) Thankfully I haven't had to go with any of the others.

I am from the u.s.a Middle America and our vet bill was $37 for a visit and$ 65 to have them neutered. I have never had them neuterd but was curious about the cost.
