I'm not sure my cavy's are eating enough dried food, hence why ive started adding vit c drops to their water - which they now seem to be drinking more of.

They have quite a large-ish bowl which has 2 handfulls of food in, in just over 24 hours they have probably only eaten 1/4 of this bowl between 3 of them. they have in their cage a dried corn on the cob, which they dont seem interested in and a cheesy cob treat which they've had a nibble at but not eaten much of it. I limited their veg yesterday because i thought that was what could be filling them up so they had a **** 1/4 of a banana cut up which was left and removed out of their cage this morning.

Tonight ive given them 5 thinly sliced cucumbers cut up which they've eaten all of out of my hand, but they usually would anyway, they love their veggies!

Are they getting enough? Ive tried 3 different types of food now incase it was that Gerty, pet shop without label and Tesco purple bag which they have in at the mo. they seem to be growing fine though, i weighed them on thurs and will do again this thurs to see just how much/little weight they're putting on. probably just me being paranoid but wanted to question it on here.

The most important food for them is hay and vegetables. If they're only eatting a small bit of their dry food then thats ok....I can't remember the exact figure but I'm sure dry food only makes up 5% of their daily intake. I wouldn't even bother with the vitamin c drops - just make sure that they get this from their vegetables instead.

I fill my girls' bowl up in the morning and at night (if it needs it) but sometimes they hardly touch any and other days its all gone.

Mine are the same as Angeladeedah ... sometimes they eat more than other days. I guess it just depends how much veg and hay they have eaten.

Mine always have a bowl of dried mix available. I am in the process of transferring them to pellet only mix, but doing it slowly.

Make sure that they have plenty of fresh veg ..... I tend to go with what is in season and on offer.

maybe they were just getting used to it, there going through a full bowl per day now and love it :))
