Hello. I currently just bought a sewing machine to make my own fleece liners and maybe other accessories for my girls. But I dont know how many yards of fleece to buy for their 3x5 c&c cage

All you need to do is measure the cage And then multiply everything as you will need several liners so you’ve got spares when the others are in the wash.
but it’s also worth noting that you won’t be able to make one liner to fit the whole cage. You’ll have to make several smaller liners to use at any one time to fill the cage. A single 3x5 liner will destroy your washing machine!

I think each grid is 35 cm then a gap of around 1 cm between the grids. From personal experience I would break down your fleece liners into smaller ones. Very large liners are impossible to brush hairs off, fit into the washing machine and tumble dryer. Once they are immersed in water they become very heavy and can damage for washing machine too.

Thank you!

What if I do a 2x3 and a 3x3 or would the 3x3 be too big still? Also I have laundry bag things I put them in to wash just because I always have trouble getting all the hay off. I plan on getting a hand held vacuum in the future

I would probably do a 1X3 and 2 2X3s we have a 2X4 liner and I find it a pain to clean!
We have one of those laundry bags too a little hoover will be a good investment! One thing we do is use noodle bath mats in the area where the hay is and the hay shakes off them
much easier than the fleece!

My 3x5 c&c was 180x108cm. I had liners made to fit it (though for some reason I always seem to have a problem with my liners shrinking.) My washing machine is an 8kg one and the liner did fit in it. I recently had part of the mechanism at the rear (spindle?) replaced as it was worn, but I couldn't say whether that was general wear and tear due to frequent use over 7 years, or due to washing heavy liners in it for the last 18 months.

Yeah. I had a 2x5 but then ava was biting at the bars so I upgraded it to a 3x5 over the summer and I thought the 2x5 was a pain to clean but let it slide because I knew I was upgrading. I'm using both of the 2x5 fleece liners in my cage at a time and I just hate the way it looks lol. And I never thought that. I always figured hay would stick to it more and get wrapped around it somehow lol. Thank you for suggesting that

I think a couple of 2 x 3 would be ok, you may want to put hay or newspaper down at one end?

I agree with making some smaller liners, easier to wash and switch out if they get dirty. Good luck with the machine - get some good needles for fleece and make sure you set your tension to high if sewing thick layers.. You tube has loads of tutorials for fleece stuff.. I have made my own liners, tunnels and snuggle sacks... Good Luck

Ava always chews anything paper. When I first got her I just used puppy potty pads because Tiki never chewed anything on the floor (I always had to get her hanging chews) but ava started to chew them so I dont think I should use them for for a section

I did use a bottom of a pet store cage and cut out a section of it and use wooden cat litter but the plastic is so flimsy I didnt feel comfortable carrying it down the stairs lol but it did help with the mess and once again ava chewed on it
