Hi,

I've not got my piggies yet but was wondering in advance how much to feed them everyday?
I'm hoping to get 2 pigs and want to get them a bowl each but how big should the bowl be?

Thanks,
Fay x

Hay and nuggets/ muesli available all the time. Fresh veg and fruit, about a cup each a day.
Having said that , my kids feed them off and on through the day with veggie treats. :)

If they're housed together then they will only eat out of each others bowls so may as well just put all their food in the one bowl. Basically as Alfie said hay, dry food and water always available - they don't have "meals" like some other pets do and will just wander on and off through the day to the feed trough. Only leave veggies in there for a few hours as many piggies get upset tummies from veggies that go off (even though they may look OK to us). If you're getting babies then try a variety of different veggies (only one new type a day) and see what they like/don't like, then try them again a few weeks later as their taste buds do change. Good luck O0

The bowls in P@H are about the right size if there's one near you, mine share their dried food because they dont really bother with it much but they do enjoy having a bowl each of veggies, they get narked if they're in one bowl because they're fat and cant both fit around it ;D i put hay in a box in the corner, they only drag it everywhere anyway! have you had any luck with finding any piggies yet? x

Also, if you do get babies dont go mad with greens like cabbage and brocolli etc for the first few days, just give them liitle bits because you dont know how much veg they've been given previously and some pigs have sensitive tums, none of mine did they all just dived in but some do O0 x

Hi,

I had a look in P@H at dinner, which bowls do you mean? I noticed on the pic of your cage you had 2 little blue ones (I think!)?
They won't mind sharing a dried food bowl at all then?

No, I have my cage ready and have just ordered some vetbed/fleece from ebay and now I need to get all the accessories.
I am hanging on a couple of weeks til I start looking for pigs to be honest as I have an important exam coming up and if I get them now I won't get any revision done coz I'll be playing with/wtaching them all day! ;D

Thanks for the advice, I really need it!

x

Mine share a dried food bowl without issue, so far.
They only have one veg bowl and drag their goodies around the cage.
Rabbit/ guinea pig sized bowls, not hamster.

Good luck with the exam O0

They probably wont mind with the dry food but some do get narky over the fresh veg etc, which they normally take out of the dishes anyway so I stopped bothering with them! ;D I used to have seven boars sharing a dry food dish with no problems! O0

Yes the bowls in my pic are in P@H they should be in the rodent section they come in green and purple too, if not anything that sort of size will do if they're having one food bowl and 2 veg bowls :) if you do get these bowls, take the rubber things off the bottom, one of mine got one off and tried to eat it ::) x

my piggies bowls are from morrisons, they are cat bowls lol with two sections i use the smaller one for dry food and bigger section for veg. they have a bowl each O0
