how much food

So what is normal intake of Veggies each day? I leave his normal food out all the time obvisouly... I just was worried about overfeeding him or something.. Ive seen pics on here where people are putting a whole plate a food out, I give him a couple carrots and some leafy greens each day.. is that ok?

Some people measure out 50g of food per piggie - although if your guinea is young and/or new to you then you'll want to slowly build up to that figure.

I tend to recommend a minimum of one handful a day, which consists of at least three types of fruit and veg. Twice daily veggie feedings usually go down well, so you could give a couple of types of veggie at one feeding and a couple of other types at another feeding, or give a handful in the morning and a handful in the evening...it's fairly flexible.

The main thing to remember is to introduce new foods in small amounts - you can give a new food daily, but small pieces are best for a few days.

When I got my boys two months ago I started them off with 30g each of piggie nuggets and a small handful of chopped veggies..they now on 40g each of nuggets and half cup of veggies on the morning and evening which they love Good luck with the feeding

All this 50g business sizzled my brain and I was looking for something on the internet that would say it in dummy terms such as 2 leaves of romaine lettace, half a carrot, 4 slices of cucumber etc. Mine are only 9 weeks old, does anyone know of anything like that anywhere?

I also wanted to know what they could have when (ie every day, once a week etc)

I follow the rate watchers diet (or rather the guinea pigs do!)
I find if you weigh the food out a few times you get to know how much 50g is by sight.

I need to get a digital scales to weigh the gps anyway so wouldnt hurt to weigh the food I guess.

Grapes are fine to give - but make sure that they stay a treat and that you do not give too many on a regular basis.
