So I've been feeding them a rather large dish of guinea food every morning, along with some fruit and veg! Everytime I check on them later on, all the food is gone and they quickly rush to the food bowl to be fed, so I indeed give them more guinea food and within minutes its gone. I don't want to over feed them but I don't like seeing them without food so what do I do when they eat everything so fast?/

do they have unlimited hay as well? i only fill the nuggets up in the evening.

mine get there veg in 3 sittings, breakfast, dinner and supper.

how old are they? how big is the bowl?

There's two in each cage. The dish is the size of something you get a chinese take away in I suppose? They have unlimited hay also but they just seem to eat everything so fast. They are around about 7-9 months old.

i personally wouldn't re-fill the nuggets. if they are hungry they will eat the hay (which should be the main part of the diet)

they do go nuts for veg as its like offering us chocolate.

Hay should make up to 80% of their daily food intake to keep the guts going and the crucial back teeth nicely ground down. Don't refill the pellets.

Veg is about 1 cupful, ca. 50g of mixed veg per piggy per day; that is much less than you'd expect! Personally, I rather aim for the lower end.

In the wild, piggies live off mainly dry grass for most of the year; fresh food is an additional bonus, so overdoing it is actually not helpful in the long run.
