Can anyone tell me how much fresh veg per day I should be feeding my 9 week old piggies ?

I read through and printed off a sticky that states that most piggies eat between 5-10g of each veg per day!

How is it best to determine how much to give them at this age?

I have started by giving them 5g of each of their 5 veg per day (split into 2 meals each day) and they are polishing it all off and looking for more!

Should I be giving them more by now?

If you can get at some guaranteed dog pee free grass, you can feed that, or give more hay, if they are hungry.

Make sure that they get their 50g a day (rule of thumb).

My freshly adopted Taffy and her daughter Tegan (who is 9 weeks as well) are not so keen on grass either. Tey obviously haven't had much before.

I just keep on giving some fresh grass with every meal and top up the hay regularly.

I will start putting grass on top of their veggies too then!

So should i be giving them 50g each of fresh veg per day ?

No, 50g in total per piggy. Otherwise you'll end up with some VERY fat piggies! That's why I give them and hay and grass extra.

Sorry - think i am going a bit thick today................... do you mean give them 50g each per day or 50g between them per day ?

50g per pig per day - it can get a bit confusing.

But don't go bonkers if it is a bit more or if they get the occasional special treat! This is just a general guideline.

Thanks Wiekbe - I had not been giving them that which is maybe why they were hungry !

Will bump up this evenings veggie meal and hope that it does the trick for them.

Thanks so much for your help....again!!

Hi Wiekbe,

Well, I gave my piggies their extra veggies this evening and ...wow (they ate the lot still)

I give them 2 smaller meals of fresh veg each day and am now giving them 25g per piggy at each meal time so they are getting 50g each per day.

They finished their veg and then went on to eating hay - they do love their food bless them.
