How much hay does everyone go through every month? I never actually realized how much hay piggies eat. I feel like even though I give them a HUGE handful everyday they could still probably go through 2-3 times more if I was home to re-fill it more.

I get the mini bails and I have 2 piggies. I go through about 1 every week or so. Cosmo my boar LOVES it he goes nuts over it!

my lot get through...
in a month...
a huge bale of (strawy) bedding hay... and then 4-6 half bales of nice hay... just for eating...
but my lot are greedy guts...
:))

Well, i was getting through a small bag once a week so i've started bulk buying to hopefully save some pennies! I have a 4k bag of Oxbow Timothy hay so i'll let you know how long it lasts! I have been wasting a lot of hay recently though as i had a box in their hay loft which i changed every day. I really wanted to keep it because they love jumping in it and foraging but i've now removed it and just have hay racks hanging in the loft, hopefully this will also save on wastage and money!

if they like hay to play around in...
have you thought of getting the real cheap hay..?
i use a bale of hay... but its straw like... its more like hay for horses i think...
and thats like £4-£5 for a massive proper farm bale of it... and then its not too pain full when i chuck that stuff out... and then i put on top of that there nice fine green eating hay....and they dont really ever eat the strawy hay.. just flatten it and mess about in it....
and the half bales of nice hay is only £1.50....

That's a good idea Clare, i'll look into getting some cheaper stuff for play time because they do really like jumping around in it :))
