Ok I am new guinea pig owner! They seem to be settling in fine! But as soon as I think I have everything sussed I have more questions. OK this time its regards food! How much is too much! They have their hay in a ball thing which they can push about and they have their guinea pig feed. However, on top of that I give them fresh veg everyday. For example today I have given them 2 small carrots and a little chunk of cucumber each which I hide for them to get and also a little bit broccoli! Is this to much or not enough! Help I have found no website about what is ideal! And is banana ok for them to try!? Help! I am not sure if they are the kinda of animals that just eat and eat! I am making sure they are getting alot of excercise! But how much is too much exercise! I want to make sure they are totally balanced in their diet and excericse!

Oh and can anyone suggest any other possible foods to try!? I have kept away from lettuce - heard this is a no no .......... not sure why!

Hi in the food section theres a guinea pig shopping list for the veggies they can have. Banana is ok but in small amounts as it constipates them. They should have unlimited hay around 30-50g of guinea pig food each a day and mine have a bowl of veggies for breakfast and a bowl for tea. They need the veggies as they dont make there own vit c green bell peppers are good for vit c not to many carrots as fatting and never iceberg lettuce as it gives them the runs. No potatoes as poisinous
