hey there
just wondering what weight should piggies be? how much is too much? :)

Mmmmmmm! That's a right tricky one! A lot depends on the breed as some tend to be a bit bulkier than others. Boars are usually a bit bigger than sows. I'd worry if a piggy was suddenly putting on a lot of weight, or having trouble moving around, or breathing was laboured (or if they suddenly lost weight). I'd certainly worry if a piggy went over the 3.5 lb mark. There's a sticky at the top of this section with weights of some of our piggies - take a look, it's really interesting. 88)

Georgie went to the vet a while ago and I was told, she was a a bit over weight ,she is what I thought a healthy 2lb 4oz ,maybe a little on the round side admitedly,I cut down on her pellets and it made no difference at all...so I gave up ::) she hasn't put on anymore weight so I guess that's the size she is meant to be,she runs around like a loon ,is a happy pig and has a varied diet,I think as long as they are healthy and their weight doesn't hinder their lifestyle
then that's ok in my opinion :)

Aww Sammy 2lb 4oz isnt big! Well its a good weight i think! Bumble and Bee are 1lb 12oz and theyre only 4 months so think they're gunna be fattys too! One of Niki's, Ester is 2lb 13oz :smitten: i love her because she's chubby! Obviously dont overfeed her but dont put her on a diet it sounds like she's healthy to me! x

Yeah I agree with jnenbnb that's not overweight. Personally I lurrrrrrrve to see podgy piggies (so long as they're healthy and mobile).
